Unidentified Hull
« on: April 02, 2008, 08:00:19 pm »

Hi all!

Amongst my collection of models in the loft I have come across this plastic hull.
I am pretty sure it is a Tug of some sort but at the moment I can't find any plans with my other models up there. I have a feeling I may have thrown them away.
It is 30" (750mm) long, 5 1/2" (140mm) high and about 7" (180mm) wide.
The hull came in two parts and has been glued together, but the keel has not been trimmed yet, hence the blue line.
I have had this for at least 15 years since buying it. Most likely from the Model Engineer show that used to be on over the new year at Wembley Conference centre.
I haven't got a clue what to do with it at the moment without any plans. :embarrassed:

Does anyone recognise the hull shape at all?

Cheers

Almost certainly a tug but with no plans and it being about 15 years old I personally would go down the freelance way and build something that looks right that you can enjoy. I expect others will ave a different opinion though. Contact Bryan Ward at Mobile Marine Models he has the tugnology and may well be able to help.

It  looks very much as if it could be HMS Confiance.

Now moulded by Models By design. http://modelsbydesign.co.uk/model_boats.aspx

Previously marketed by David Metcalf mouldings.

If it is I don't imagine they'd be very happy to know its been copied

Makes into a nice handy size tug with plenty of scope for scale detail.

Hello!
I think it might be tug Burutu/Bajima hull. A friend of mine has it and I did some work on it a year ago, looks very familiar from the pictures.

Hama, I think you may have solved it!
As soon as I saw the name it started ringing bells and the image of it at myhobbystore.com confirmed it!

Thank you!
