As far as I know there's no sound generator which will run on 24v.........well, not yet  .
RCMW's unit runs on 6 - 12v; Model Solutions of Canada's SFX4 is 6v - 15v, while the very sophisticated and hugely expensive Benedini one is 4.8v - 12v.

Frankly you're painting yourself into a corner if you're insisting on running the sound unit off the main drive batteries; why not install a separate power source for the sound? You don't need a huge SLA for the job; batteries have never been cheaper, relatively speaking, and it's electrically much "cleaner" as well.

Our own units are only sound simulators  and probably wouldn't suit the model anyway (See "Threads passim", as they say in a certain satirical rag).

BUT

You could always drop the voltage down from 24v with a simple voltage regulator circuit.

thanks for the replies guy's i found a 24 volt one in states but have gone bavk to 12 volt drive as model was digging in with extra wieght up front and not poss to move battery back no room ta

You can run out sound units at 24V on request when ordering.

Last weekend I was priveleged to listen to pakirks sound generator fitted into a rather large RNLI thingy. Mightily impressive...and as you know I am not easy to please! (Again, no connection apart from knowing the guy). I do know that he has problems reproducing an authentic steam whistle sound. Probably 'cos he's never heard on at full bore. I'm sure I remember a radio programme that used one. Any ideas? BY.
