Title: Looking at the Stats
Post by: roycv on February 22, 2018, 09:48:13 am
I was looking at the general stats and on 30th April 2009 there 1268 members on line, Why?  The normal figures are ranging 50 -200.  What happened on that date?  Anyone know?  (can I pre empt the anyone care response?)
just curious,

Probably a misguided DoS or hacking attack.....  :((

Might not have been directly at Mayhem, could have been against the server / hosting company.

Anyone notice that my user name is always first on the list of users online?
Maybe because Mayhem is my Home Page, and I have never logged out from Mayhem?

Get a grip of yourself Bob {:-{....

your stats are 77 days, 11 hours & 32 minutes with 3366 posts
another member has 112 days, 17 hours & 4 minutes with 7275 posts

& this member is a little younger than you  .......... [Derek]

PS.....B is also toward the front of the alphabetic listing  {-)

I suspect that you are always first in the list - whoever 'you' are. At least that's how it looks to me.

There are a total of 7381 members. An interesting stat would be how many have posted anything :o

There seems to be a bit of a trend according to the stats page. Total number of page views is increasing, but the total number of new posts is declining, year on year. I wonder why that is?
Another interesting stat is the male to female membership ratio, which is 111 to 1. How come model making is still such a male dominated hobby?

As they say, there are lies. damned lies and statistics. Don't read too much into them. After all, how do you place a weighting on useful posts, banter, humour and 'nothing to do with model boating' posts? Some members just want a social chat room.

Basically, a relatively few people post useful and knowledgeable model boating stuff while a lot of others simply read the forum as 'lurkers' who either don't feel they can contribute, don't want to participate or are simply hoovering up the pearls of wisdom. A minority like to stir up mischief. It's the same with all forums. We should cherish those who freely give of their knowledge and time and enrich the modelling experience of the rest of us.

John Hemmens says he has quite a few of the female persuasion who buy his kits.
