Title: Lead acid 6v

Hi again another question I'm going to run a lead acid 6v battery in my Mary Ann I have never used them before only lipos and nimh but I have been told lead acid will be better to run it on and I will get more run time going to be running a 300 grupner motor the 6v one any body advice or link me to a lead acid that will be good for this boat thanks

It isn't essential to use lead acid. I tend to use them for weight - saves expensive lead O0. Unless you can get something greater than 4Ahr capacity in your boat, then NiMh is OK, especially if you already have the packs.
If you do buy Lead Acid you will also need a new charger - unless you already have a multi-purpose charger.

Run time depends on battery capacity. No matter what type of battery if the capacity and voltage is the same
then run time will be equal. Having said that its not a good idea to run a pb (lead acid) cell fully down as it
will shorten its life I would make sure the battery is the gell cell type. Bast not to use a liquid type Battery.

Lead acids should not be run down below 50% of their nominal capacity if you want them to stay in good condition whereas other types can be run almost flat. As said above, they are best for sedate scale models where you want them to double as ballast at an overall reasonable cost.

Run a lead acid almost flat and it is very doubtful if it will ever be the same again if it doesn't pack up entirely.

Though Lead Acid are more tolerant than Li-po, their flat voltage is about 1.5 volts per cell (nominal voltage is 2 volts per cell, 6 volt battery is 3 cells in series), go below that and you are severely shortening their life, same as a Lipo being drawn to below 3 volts per cell, while this has been already covered the actual voltages haven't.
