Title: Sanding - Necessary?

Hi
I've just started to reinforce the inner hull on my. "Marie Felling" - using "fastglas" and glass fibre sheet, this is my very first time using these materials.
Reading through posts almost all say to sand down and use P38 or similar.

My thoughts are; why sand and fill - it's on the inside, you can't see it, and it's not 'that' rough to prevent fixing ply board for the motor, servo etc.
I'm not against sanding down, just curious. :-\

Hi Gary,
It's only necessary to sand and fill the interior of the hull where it shows above the deck level so that it looks like smooth steel in the case of the Marie Felling.  Whatever you do don't try sanding down the whole of the interior - you will go mad before you are finished.

As it was my first time at using the resin and glass mat, I found the 'hardener' didn't mix too well with the resin, resulting in lumps of hardener (small ones be it) within the resin, as it only has a 20 min work life, I tried to mix like mad with a 'stick' and then with the paint brush - it still left small lumps of hardener, some of these unfortunately are still present within the hull. 
(0.2mm - 0.5mm approx)
Thank goodness my chicken pox interior falls short of the deck line, this is my first build and will use this as a learning curve, has anyone a better idea of mixing the two?

fast glass will set fast - hence the name!

If you want a slower set product, try one designed for full size boats, more working time. I use one from Fyne boats in Kendal - odour free as well. I am sure there are others around though.

Sounds like a good idea, Halfords only had the Fastglas, more time would be a benefit to a novice / noob like me.   :)
I'll try the model shops  - I'm a bit landlocked in Birmingham.

Dont worry about the measels it happens with fast glass,as long as it went off, well hey dont worry
