:)Hi,
Just started to build the above kit, having so far fitted Prop and Rudder, so before a think about fitting a deck I need to chose a suitable motor.
The drawing suggest a "Monoperm Motor" does not state voltage unless they are all the same rating. Has anybody built this model?, if so I would appreciate some knowledge of what motor you used.
I have also been using Mtroniks speed controllers of the 15amp rating. As part of my learning, is this sufficient or do I need to go bigger. Thanks a lot Bernard. O0 O0

looks like it will need either a Graupener speed 600 which draws around 8amps or a MFA RE540 motor(Maplins) which draws around the same so in answer to your question if the 15amp Mtronics is sufficient well yes it is BUT I must admit to fitting speed controllers of higher amperage than you need I would use a 20 simply to give a safety factor.Contact FLJ for advise Action products fame

Hi Ceres

Hi Shipmate60
No I don't really want them as they are 6 volt versions. I watch all the boaty stuff on Ebay, just to see the prices, etc. The 'Ad' says it's a Pair of Monoperms for sale, but you go ahead. if you want.
I've found a six way Futaba receiver for £4.50 and still thinking about it. Pensioner, you know ;D
The Glasgow paddler was cruising at £205 for most of the time and at it's last two minutes, it shot up to £405. Phew, who would have believed it.
Sorry for taking over your thread, Ceres. :embarrassed:

I have some Monoperms which might be released to a good home. A couple of standard 12v ones plus a standard and a super 6v. The latter to moderately well used.

you are far better with a monoperm than a high drain motor,of either 6 or 12v. I reviewed the Milford Star for "model boats" a number of years ago and had a little monoperm in her ( 6 v I think from memory) and she sailed literally all day on a 7 amp battery. In fact she sailed so long i was letting any tom, dick and harry sail her by the end of the day, as boredom had set in well and truely.a great choice, and I would take up colin's offer If I were you.neil.
