Title: Ok webhounds, need need some help!
Post by: Captain Jack on May 09, 2008, 10:01:35 pm
I've been building the Tie Jien kit of the Salvirile for some months now. While looking for pics of the real vessel for detailing reasons, I came across this website: http://www.sightlines.ca/thetug/therealthing/trivia.html
It states that the Salvirile is the former tug Irishman. The Irishman from the Falklands campaign is well documented, and I've seen pics of the Irishman kit. However, the Pics look like two distincly different tugs. Any help with clearing up this mystery would be greatly apreciated, as I seem to be going around in circles with my web searches!!!! Thanks in advance, Captain Jack.

Hello Captain Jack!
Don't know anything about this, just guessing, but it says that ex. Irishman and Yorkshireman where sold in -93. Perhaps your tug was built after -93 and got her name then?

Ken, here's a link to a mini review from another forum:  http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=706508&highlight=Salvirile. There is a thread from this forum titled: "There has to be a catch"? that you may want to check out.
My kit was purchased from here:
http://www.rcscalemodel.com/index.php
Also, there are several on e-bay. I DO highly recommend rcscalemodel, It was a pleasure doing business with them, and we do still corespond on a friendly basis via e-mail.
