Title: Springers - The Rogues Gallery!
Post by: boatmadman on June 01, 2008, 12:11:51 pm
Martin,

How about a springer gallery of all the different springers that have been built, along with the name of the builder?

she's now named - Springer Leak!  >:(

My two are,on the left is Gazover and the Chopper is scratchbuilt around the windscreen which was plastic packaging. The rotors work via a micro switch switched on with the throw of the rudder arm.
The other tug is Gazunder (Gerry Springer! ),both Tugs wheelhouses are made from Ferero Rochere chocolate containers, the material is compatable with Styrene and uses the same Solvent.

Would this not be better if it was thumbnails that can be clicked on to enlarge so we dont use a lot posts for each pic ?  Police Gazette style or for our trans-Atlantic friends the Post Office "Most Wanted" posters.  Just to add to the list, a working camera boat(note the temoporary trim ,2 screw-drivers). How about it Ghosty, time you got some on-the-water shots !

Right here she is the one I should never have built it has cost a fortune since, and almost went over due to the amount of water she ships. But actually is rather fun. O0

Very good innit ! O0    Does the sub deploy ?  It looks like a lot of the things that come up to Loch Ness in the hope of finding Nessie every so often. Even Ballard came once. Original Pisces been too. There was even a tour-submarine for a season, pricey.

Hi, no unfortuantly the sub does not deploy from the springer, but it does work.
The sub was a fathers day gift ( although I did choose it myself, £9.89 from Tesco's)
It works really well to actually submerges, by means of an expanding chamber
( I think). We dont tend to see the Loch Ness monster down here in Cambridgeshire, but Oliver the search srpinger and the mini-sub are on standby. ;)

No Arrow, you are right, the deck actually is on the right way round (Backwards) as this is a Regnirps class... and yes, the knees are where the props are... at the stern, which is actually the bow.... where the props will be.
Seeing as how this Regnirps will be going backwards, ie 'forwards', with the knees at the stern (now the bow) thats why its become known as 'WW' or Douglas Corrigan to give it its proper name.

Does that make it clear?  O0

Hi Rathikrishna,
These are all based on a Springer Pusher Tug Hull, there is a Plan for the Hull on this Forum somewhere, perhaps some kind person could point you in the right direction for it.
I love your boats.

Hi out there,

I'd like to throw my springer in the mix. Hull is made of Lexan polycarbonate plastic and styrene. Pilot house and all of the fittings came from the spare parts box  :-). Inside there is a Robbe diesel engine chip and a horn.

Yes of course, just wanted it to be a woodie, mahogany planked deck, varnished with twenty coats of copal varnish, three days drying `tween coats and all that, polished brass or stainless steel burnished fittings (chrome if it was a Yank). The spring-loaded gantry off my seldom used Paula 3 with working winch makes her a brilliant rescue boat as well as lots of fun, she always comes to the lake and is on standby! Dave.  :-))
