Title: Flower Class Corvette in the red.
Post by: Chuffy on June 20, 2008, 09:27:38 am
Morning all,

I am sure that I have seen a Flower class corvette painted red and white and being used as some type of service boat. Can anyone help or am I mistaken. If it does exist then I think it would be a good build for a Revell kit.

HMCS Sudbury was converted to SS Sudbury, a tug at the end of WW2. Not sure of the colours though.

Appears to be one converted to a lightship so I suppose they would have painted it red. It makes them easier to aim at....

Nice model. Wouldn't like to chuck that lifebelt at anybody at full scale, down on the after deck . ::) ::) Think I prefer this version to the grey funnel line model, more unusual

Good point about the life belt..... they had big fellas on light ships in 'dem days!  {-)

evening all,

Many thanks for all your contributions and for the links. I think that having seen the light ship I will also be building a 'might have been'. A tug springs to mind or a fisheries protection vessel or even a diving support vessel. I now need to do a bit of research, I don't want to stray too far from reality.

Many thanks for that post Keith, unless anything else really catches my eye I have decided to build two kits. One will be a 'might have been' fisheries protection vessel and  the SS Sudbury.
