Title: Hitec RC Gear but in need of help

Hi, I've just finished putting back together my A.S.R.L after a bit of a tidy up. During this I had removed all the ESC,Servo and Receiver. Now putting it back together I find that the small flat connector plugs from the servo and ESC to the receiver will fit in either way around and at the time of dismantle i did not take much notice which way around the were.
I am using Hitec HP-2RNB receiver and a EZX-R ESC.
Would appreciate if some one could tell me if there is a correct way they plug in. :embarrassed:
The only difference being on one side of the flat plug is a mall area of exposed contact for each wire connector, not sure if this faces up or down.

If it helps anyone:

For all the common (fulllsize) receivers you will do no harm/let no smoke escape if a servo plug is put in the wrong way round; the servo or ESC will just sulk and not operate.

The darkest wire is battery negative (often black or dark brown) and goes nearest the edge of the receiver
The lightest colour (white, yellow or whatever)  is the signal wire and goes nearest to the middle of the receiver

If you are using a very old Sanyo servo with three black wires (!) just try it both ways then MARK the one that works with a splodge of white/yellow paint on the signal side of the connector!  Better still solder on a new coloured lead.

Because you wonder (I can HEAR you wondering)  - some specialised aircraft micro receivers with JST connectors have the signal wire in the middle.  Smoke can escape if equipment is mixed without reading the instructions carefully.  If your receiver has a case or weighs more that 2 grams this doesn't apply to you.

If you are using a very old Sanwa servo with three black wires then my advice would be to put on a disguise and hand it in at the nearest police station - just hope no-one sees you enter or exit and that the rozzers don't recognise your voice................. :o

While I agree logically and economically with you; it was free, and hence essential ;D

I was using it as ferinstance of a complete unknown - in fact I found that I could persuade the contacts into a futaba servo plug shell - but I always snip off the futaba "blade" anyway - hence the colour marking.
