Title: What Colour Shade of Paint !!
Post by: Martin13 on July 04, 2008, 11:48:26 pm
Hi All,

I'm currently building HMS Brave Borderer hopefully to scale. On photo's of some excellent models and the original boat, the bottom of the hull appears to be black with upper hull and superstructure grey. Also I have noticed that on some models the deck has been painted green.

I will be using Acrylic paint and I wish to airbrush my model. What I would like to know is "what shade of colour to use" and is the finish in Matt or Satin as there are many within the range.

Now seeing that I live in Oz, I cannot go to Halfords or similar places. Should anybody have an idea of what shade to use, for example Humbrol Number ### will do for deck etc.

I have a local Automotive paint supplier that suggested, if I can supply a sample - they will match it for me as this will be the easiest way to get the paint I require.

Thanks
