im looking for a quick release fastener to fix down my mono hatch, its a scratch build wooden mono and has a hatch with a seal. any ideas?

Not sure how much pressure you need to apply, however, a method I have used is as follows.
Attach a strong elastic band to the inside of the hull; stretch it to engage with a hook on the underside of the hatch; adjust it so it holds the hatch down firmly on the seal but still allows you to lift it sufficiently to detach from the hook.
Roger in France.

I've seen on the multi boat boys boats and plastic / perspex lid held down with to T section of aluminium angle and thumbscrews.
I'll find a photo....

A pic of the hull would help...
However http://www.prestwich.ndirect.co.uk/hdwraccs.htm (http://www.prestwich.ndirect.co.uk/hdwraccs.htm) Item GA8A or GA8C could be what you are looking for. A tongue at the front of the hatch and these at the back.
Alternatively, body post (cross-drilled bolt) and body pins (RC car).

Both Jotika (or what ever the new website is called) and Model Marine Supplies offer the ¼ turn AeroMarine lock. It is fit for its purpose.
