Not bad, eh? All out of a piece of sewer pipe & some blue foam. :D
And I'm still fretting over how best to cut my rivet plate skins for the raft... :embarrassed:

Brilliant!
A fortnight? Do these people not work for a living or have a life outside making boats?
Jeez, I need to retire just to catch up with some of my outstanding jobs - let alone build anything new....

Steve is a professional special effects artist who's done his share of work in Hollywood & can probably do work like this with his eyes closed.
He'll post some pics of the maiden voyage at Hansen Dam later today.

Here are some photos of the maiden voyage yesterday in LA. The following comments are from Kmot, the gent who started the Hansen Dam Irregulars:
"Cap'n Steve Neill maidened a new submarine today and it is quite special. It is the Nautilus from Jules Vernes' "20 Thousand Leagues Under the Sea" and it was constructed true to the book and Jules Verne and not the fantasized Disney version.
It is quite large, over 4 feet I would guess. And it looks amazing in its copper cladding. The sub functioned superb all throughout its initial running, except for one minor glitch when the hatch came undone. Which in turn knocked the rudder loose. A little hatch tape and it soon was back in the water diving, sailing under water, etc. It's a very awesome sub and I like it best of all the subs I have seen out there. And it sure was easy to film compared to those black painted ones!"

Barry,
You can see those on his SP thread. He's using a Dave Welch WTC.
