Not styrene knees surely ?  Not going to push anything ? ???   Needs lots of drainage holes/scuppers too. Nice build , 1" sides tough !

Looks really good Ray, nice superstructure but, plastic knees, tiny drainage holes, the rough boys on our lake would have it sunk in 5 mins, guess you you are not going in for Springer wrestling  {-)

That looks like a big prop, what motor are you putting in or is it a secret  {-)

Great shape, forget styrene kness, use off-cuts from hull sides material. More scuppers on transom. Nice wheelhouse, congrats.

Looks good - sturdy little hull.
Is that the grease nipple on the shaft for future lubrication? Pressure type fitting?

hi all   i have 1inch coamings all round the deck  the top is a tight fit!  the 'plastic knee's ' are 3mm styrene  (there good enough for what i want

to do with it  :)  the prop is 50mm the motor is a  540 style    /      mike the grease nipple is for greaseing the shaft  (i do mine after every run!) &

had no probs with shaft wear etc (ive got the same on all my other boats  O0

weeds  i have no plans for the wheelhouse (i just draw out the shape & then if i like it i cut it out O0 )

Hi Ray
Where do you find the grease nipples - a solder style mounted on the shaft?

Ran my tug at Doug's - no sign of water this time so perhaps not coming up the shaft - and can't access the rudder tubes to check them.
Regards,
Mike

Help out a newbie here..How is a more torquey motor going to make a difference, if you are keeping the propeller the same?

hi weeds im not going to use this 900 motor in the springer (the motor is suited for larger boats with a bigger prop ) the tito nero has these motors in  regards ray

For "torquey" I usually read slower revving.
You can only spin a propeller so far before it starts slipping (cavitating) and produces bubbles and the current draw
goes through the roof! Scale boats usually need slower motors and if i remember my Faraday's law (or is it Maxwell
equations or Henry's deduction or Mrs Betons cakes?!?)  efficiency charts show that the lesser and thicker winds in
a DC motor, the higher the output revs and higher the current consuption . The more winds the less the revs &
current.... they're both proportional to each other....er... efficiency and loading come in there somewhere and so
efficiency ...... right hand and left hand laws ... and Archimedes!......
...... I wish I'd paid more attention in college!  :(

I remember someone burnt this brand of motor  a year ago. If you want to buy it, which i doubt, there's the thread about it.. type "xcelorin defective" in rctech's search engine and it's the first of the search results.

Yes very smart :-))  Kinda like Norry`s  all-round bulwarks.  Stout push-knees, meant for business. Bike tyre rubber ? Good idea. Pics on the water soon ?

hi garabaldy i use a a stuff called  'rocket' powder  its manly used for gap filling with super glue   my method of getting a no slip deck is paint a area on the deck  the sprinkle on the powder then move along a bitmore & repeat untill the whole deck is finished  let it dry & paint the deck over the powder to seal it =job done    regards ray

Ray had the springer out at Southend Funday last weekend, the smokestack worked a real treat, very realistic. Only problem the smoke came from the speed controller. The boat was stinking, but Ray said it will be the sweetest smelling Springer when he got it home and sprayed the aftershave and deodorant inside, that is unless you know different.
