Hi All
Has anyone owned or had any dealings with a Deans Marine Whaleback M.T.B (33n x 8in) ? if so any good ?
Doing a deal with my unsold :'( tug

John
No Whalebacks were 66ft long (which is what your 33in long would equate to at 1/24th, the favoured scale of the Great Dean).
They were 63ft (i.e. a 31.5in model) or 70ft (35in model) or even 77ft (38.5in model).
I can't think what you might have. Can you post a photo?
My suspicion is that it is the Type 1 RAF HSL (the model should be 32in but they are a little oversize).
These have a straight deck-line, whereas the Whaleback has a curvy deck-line.
All the Deans range are sound, they sail very well because they are light.
Can't go too far wrong.
Regards,

Hi there John from another John
If you have a look in the Masterclass build - at the Whaleback 63 foot - which I have just finished - you will see drawings and photographs which will be able to help you sort out what bits are missing and also how the rigging goes O0

Hi john .
Just finished my Whalback ASR by Deans Marine . Not bad to build but I have fitted twin props and motors , used differnt fittings as well , some of the items needed to be modified to match the plan . Performs well on the water . Figures are by HSL .
