Title: Lingberg - Landing ship dock
Post by: Martin (Admin) on October 02, 2008, 01:29:26 pm
Via email to Mayhem ....

Lingberg plastic model, 19"long , 3" beam.
convert to a R/C .
The  original motor is a antique. I use a RS280 motor for the boat ,single shaft, 1400 mAH 4.8V NiMH battery,
Use a diode to reduce the  current.

Martin,

Lindberg-Hawk is re-releasing their LSD Oak Hill kit along with the other ancients sometime in the not-to-distant future.  It doesn't look bad dressed up with some photo etch & fittings as you can see from one over on Steel Navy's transport gallery.

you should build a LCAC for the back for a more modern look.

This model appears to be the original USS Oak Hill, LSD-7 I think, rather than the current ship. The RN had seven or so of these LSDs, HMSs Eastway, Northway, etc. Some had interesting later histories, being converted to the first RoRo ferries.

Good subject for a larger model.

Horribly late reply to a long-dead topic, I know, but I have seen this very same type of RC conversion before on Youtube. Did you make a visit to HK Victoria Park about the time you shared this LSD build on the forum?  O0

The paint pattern and the cargo of LCVPs and LVTs looks suspiciously similar...
