I'm trying to identify the model of the steam engine from this plant:

That is definitely a Cheddar design, my guess would be the Pipit, with a standard Cheddar lubricator attached.

If you look at the example that Proteus put a picture up of in the other post, you should be able to see it quite clearly.

A picture is worth a lot of words.

I have gotten a copy of the Cheddar catalogue courtesy of Proteus, and there it was, listed as Pipit. The oiler seems to be an extra, because Cheddar doesn't show it fitted to the plant in the catalogue.

Hi......i  have the same Boiler and engine on the road to me,,,,,how long runing time do you have with it,,,you did a reale nice rebuild to it,,,,,,,,,do you have it in a boat now...

Hi Bernhard, did you buy it on Ebay?

Mine runs for about 15-20 minutes if I remember correctly. The boiler has a small water capacity and the small oscillator can eat up lots of steam if you leave the throttle wide open. It also turns very fast.

My impression about the boiler is that it can produce quite a lot of steam. Maybe coupled with another engine and a water pump it would give longer runs.

Hey Thanks. Ebay  157£....ok.......yes i whas thinking the same,  to get a smaller enginen.....i will try it in this boat
39.5 cm long...12.5  wide,,,so i think i can fit in there,,,hope so......
or one of the small midwest launch

Woww it look real good now,,,great job you have don,,,what boat have you in mind for it,,,,,,,,yes i will paint mine to,,,look a lot better ,,and green is just right to it,,,,,,,,,
maby a enginen like this will be fine for the boiler.....do you think that all this small petit boiler are ready made fore water gauge,,i cant see that the boiler i will get can have it,,,,,,,,,

To be honest, I find these Hielscher steam engines to be overpriced tin plate toys, and also ugly. Perhaps you could find another one?

hi........yes you right ,,,it is to expensive...bot i will look around ...bot fore now i will just use the Cheddar,...maby ,,a smaller piston can be made??........it is 1cm, now i think...

I don't mean the piston of the Pipit is too big. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I'm just saying that if you allow it to rev up too much, it consumes steam fast.
The engine I have doesn't have an o-ring on the piston, so it doesn't seal perfectly, this also reduces performance.

Perhaps you could machine a deeper recess in the piston for an o-ring?

that's a lovely engine and boiler, I had my eye on the one that Bernhard won, great price :-))
the green paint is perfect.

How does it compare in size to the Stuart ST1? it looks similar.

Thanks! I like the way it looks too, kind of cute. But I don't know what to do with it...

I haven't seen that Stuart for real, so I can't tell. But judging from the pictures they look very similar.

how about the Kassner Mini engine? It looks better made than the Heilscher. Still expensive though.

Yes, it looks somewhat better than the Hielscher engine, but did you notice the price? For  € 272 they didn't even bother to put a normal shaft in...

The boilers are looking very good though and could likely fit a very small boat.

Hi.........Got the Petit,,,,,,,and have be doing some work on it,,,,,,,firedoor,,,wood on,,oiler.water glass,,gas ,,and be ordre a water gauge,,.. ,,,,runing time around 25.--30 minuts,,
