Title: Book?
Post by: RoyP on October 09, 2008, 07:01:03 pm
I have a birthday coming up and as I am very new to boat modelling would appreciate any advice on a book or DVD that may be of help, perhaps the mysteries of fitting Radio, type of craft interested in is working boats.

Thanks,
Roy.

Try

The Complete Marine Radio Control Manual by the late Hugh Bright ( I believe it has recently been updated bya third party) Chatham Publishing ISBN 1-86176-087-6. I found this very useful when I was starting out.

Scale Model Boats by JohnCox ISBN 1-900371-09-X

Radio Control in Model Boats by John Cundell ISBN 1-85486-142-5

The Tug Boat Book by Chris Jackson (a series of revies of Tug Kits) ISBN 1-900371-13-8

Working Scale Model Merchant Ships by Tom Gorman ISBN 1-86176-009-4

All contain useful information. I'm sure others will recommend alternatives

Have a great Birthday

All the books Doug has quoted are good and well worth getting. Reading one or more of these will really make things easier for you.

I second this one,

Radio Control in Model Boats by John Cundell ISBN 1-85486-142-5

and a pad of paper and pen when you visit the nearest pond or club, I made many new friends and learned more by seeing first hand alot of what you'll need to know. Better yet, attend the International Modelboat Show in Warwick.
