Hi Bunkerbarge , you prob wont get a reply today ,or at least until they have finished towing , i have no idea what time they will be done.
I called in this morning for a natter and to see the San George , the usual crew there tucking into bacon butties , took a few photos of her in the water but had to leave before she was under tow . will post some pics when i have loaded them on photobucket,ZZZzzzzz god my broadband is slow  :( .

Visited Balne Moor this afternoon to meet up with a few of the members and to put faces to ID's.  Met a couple of Mayhemers and enjoyed the superb facility they have there.  I had a bit of a play with my Enigma round the obstacles and now realise just how easy I have it at Kirklees with no wind to worry about!  Anyway a few more pictures later but just for now here's a few of the Cap George under tow.

She looked absolutely superb with three tugs in attendance and could easily have been a real scene.

Also there were other things going on and I don't think I have ever sen such a large collection of superb tug models before.

So here's a few more, in no particular order and I certainly can't put any details to the models so I'll leave that up to the owners!!

Finally, I couldn't quite make out what the fuss was about at one point until I realised that what I thought was a twig floating across the viewfinder was actually a tiny model lifeboat.  It must have been all of about 6 inches long if that.

Anyway it made the mistake of getting a bit mixed up with the large tow going on and two seconds after the last picture was taken one of the tugs backed over it and it sank without trace!!

Hi Arrow 5,  Sorry mate it's not a springer it's a old Hargreaves Pusher Tug based in Castleford Yorkshire
used to push Tom pudding barges loaded with coal from the pits/collierys to the local Power staitons.
Cheers

John.

Carousel actually looked quite amazing on the end of the Cap George and was quite fascinating just to watch it going through it's paces.

Wiggy, I hope I haven't incriminated anyone!!  I hope you get it back, it was a cracking little model!!

Hi John, The Tugs dry as a bone, It works on a similar principle to the full size multitug 12. The full size
tugs bollard pull is 25tonne when the tug is gritted that becomes one hundred and fifteen tonnes,
The tug can work 360 degrees around the tow rope, and when towing from the side the tug will not
tun over. ( fingers crossed ) as the model shows. hope this helps.
Regards

John.
