Title: Simulator
Post by: rogcox on November 16, 2008, 11:15:50 am
Hi

As I've still to decide which model plane to sell and which 'first' model yacht to buy, I'd like to take the opportunity to seek out a model sailing simulator - if there is such a thing ?

Thanks

Roger

There is a program called Virtual Skipper, I  have version 4 which is very good and enjoyable to play. It is about £20.00 in the shops. :-))

Use this program while there is not something else.
It is possible to learn by him.

You can download a demo of Virtual Skipper 5 from here http://www.virtualskipper-game.com/en/ (http://www.virtualskipper-game.com/en/)

I don't know of any model sailing simulator available but VSK 5 is good fun with a crew and sail changes

managed to get VSK 5 for less than £10 - still in the original packaging

it's good if for no other reason than to show me how sailing is good also - if you know how to sail  {:-{

thanks

Simulators may be good tools to teach people how a boat will behave. You can learn how to drive one without crashing.

But will not IMHO give a feel for modelling.

Sailing a boat is very different to flying a plane.
Easier
Less stressful.

Most people who switch enjoy the more relaxed pace.

Amen to that TT.   :-)) I have all but given up flying now, preferring to have a relaxing sail instead. Another advantage of sailing is, if you need to stop for any reason, you can just stop your boat in the middle of the lake - I always found it quite difficult to stop an aeroplane in mid air, for any length of time  {-)
