Hi Folks, just thought I would drop a few pics on the forum of a Plank on Frame Hull, which is 62inch in length and 13inch Beam. She came to me empty
as in no internal structure or power source so it is going to be a build up and then fit it out with a steam plant as shown.
So if anyone has any comments they would like to pass on as I go along please feel free as I would like to make a decent job of it as it will be a big Launch when
finished and on the water.
I have already fitted the servos and electrics for steering and rudder control so that's one less job to do and am just thinking about any extras that could be added
like water tanks etc etc, any suggestions let me know.
I am looking to use the Richmond Twin cylinder steam engine and the matched Vertical Boiler from same maker and wondered if this would be enough power
to propell such a beast through the water?

i think it is looking good, i think you will need something like a 70mm steam prop to push it along. cant wait to race you across the pool

That hull looks lovely,hope you got plenty of padding on stand,to stop any scratches.
Please keep us informed of the build process,cant help on powerplant,but there must be an old
steamtrain laying about to power the beast.

Hey Woow what a boat look great,,,,,,,,,,i have a boiler like that,,,it is reale a well working one,,,,you scut get a gas attenuator fore it,,it a wery strong burner,,,,allways nice with some extra water in,,,i use el waterpump in 2 of my steam launchs...

Beautiful hull. But to me the engine seems rather small for that huge hull. I don't know it it will be powerful enough.

I use the same engine to push a 32lb displacement boat through the water, which draws about 6" draught and it is about 48" long with the hydrodynamics of a brick. It actually performs quite well and goes far above scale speed if I want it to.
Your boat is quite a bit bigger but much finer lines and a lot less resistance to going through the water. Having plenty of space I would leave room around the engine so if you are not happy with the performance you can put something a bit bigger in later but I suspect that, unless you want the model to go really fast, it should do the job.

Evening all and thank you for all the input, I appreciate it and it all helps on the building path.
On the space side of things their is plenty of that for sure. So much that as you say Bunkerbarge I can accommodate a bigger plant in time to come should
this one not have the B**** to do it.
I have realised one thing that Mook kindly pointed out in that she will need a bigger prop to give that little extra thrust, so I shall be obtaining either a 70/75mm
prop and see how she cruises with that.
I have no mad intention to beat this Launch about the pond on speed, well maybe one go just to see what she will do O0 and then slip her back into a majestic
mode of gracefully sliding along the water whilst the kettle boils for refreshments.
Hey Bernhard, how you doing kind sir? Had a look at your contributions to the model boating world and what can one say, keep it up your a star and if I can
get anyway near your standard i will be well happy, so i will be looking back at what you have done project wise and nicking a few ideas, if that is acceptable
to you!
On your points raised Bernhard, I have in my drawer of bits a brand new 3 point coupling attenuator valve Gas In/Out and Boiler pressure connection so that will
be incorporated in the plant when assembling it all. As it has a large amount of space, I intend to fit in the Port/Starboard side lockers Copper pipe of a good
diameter which will have soldered fittings to them, both sides will be Water tanks and feed with either an electric pump or shaft driven pump, not decided yet.
In the bow well it is like looking into a deep cavern................so again I have a large copper tank which will slot in perfectly and it is big enough to hold enough
steam exhaust from 5-6 steamings before it needs emptying, so that will be a good idea to fit it in and get good use of the launch whilst on the pond i think.
I am thinking about what type of finish she is going to have, maybe a little early but it helps to get a plan going whilst construction is under way then your
prepared for any problems. So I have quite a lot of what is called CHEVRON inlay and a whole load of gorgeous wide sheet PEAR Wood Veneer and I thought
the Pear along with Mahogany and if I can get hold of some LIME veneer would be a winning combination on the finish.
So tonight I got things moving a little as it will take a while to dry, by gluing the Pear Veneer to various panels and see how they come out and look when
totally dry and ready to look at.
I will of course post some pics as I go along and show what stage I am currently up to ok, I am looking forward to it immensely so again any input whatever it is
is always welcome and thanks again.
I have two of these steam plants which are virtually identical, the other is going into a Red Hull called the Lady Jane on which progress is very slow indeed because
I have been playing with my new 2inch scale Coal Fired Traction engine MINNIE, what fun it is too I can tell you. Anyhow now I can fire the traction engine up at
one end of the garage and well leave it in steam just ticking over and enjoying the coal/oil/steam aroma whilst i now get on with the big beast as it does take quite
a lot of room up, so I will be happy when she is nearing completion and frees up more room as I would like to get a really decent lathe and learn the art of that.......
so much to do with so little time..............anyone heard that before.

Hi all, just a quick update on the progress of build.
Managed to spend a few hours today sorting out the detail of the rear cabin and such and well managed to work it out.
So for those interested I have added some pics of what I have managed to do so please feel free to point out any mistakes ok.
I will be back on it in a few days and get some more done so until then adios amigos!

I have been going through a Published Book that was produced in America called 'STEAMBOATS & LAUNCHES' which
was published as a magazine and then bound into a book with 3 years worth of magazines from 1961/2/3.
It is a wealth of detail and information on both full size and model launches with steam power.
I found a launch called Victoria in the 1963 section and loosely based the cab on that with the addition of the long canopy
which I have added and run over the steam plant itself. The reason for the extension over the steam is because when the
plant is running and the steam has exhausted to the separator tank and vents up the pipe there is a small amount of spitting
and I want this to land on the Polished canopy and not on the boat and plant itself which would mean more work cleaning it off.
I know its only a small detail but as I go along I try to iron out any problems and get it looking right too.
So please keep the comments coming and I will make a note and incorporate them as I continue the build OK.

The idea of lights/lighting is one I am going to fit, so your cabin point will be implemented in a bigger way though.
Have you seen those LED Units in B&Q i think they have three bulbs but small one's and they are in a round plastic housing unit that you peel the back off
and stick to a wall!! Then by pressing on it it lights up, well they are just the right size and will allow me to fit one to the Ceiling of the cabin and light it up
that way which will look interesting on the pond when dark.
I will off course be fitting navigation lights as usual which enhance a model and give it the right look too.

There is just one issue with that type of lighting Rosythe and that is that LED's give off a very blue coloured light, which could look quite unrealistic in such a period model. I know the units you mean, I have one in a cupboard, so I would test one out first before committing to fitting it.

I know what you mean now about the blue light syndrome as I switched of the lights in the garage and lit the cab up with one of those units.
It does look a little blue, but I think I could get away with it as it won't be on for long periods of time and just to view the interior cabin itself.
I have been doing some of the fiddly work just of late and well here are some more pics to show the progress so far. It is going to be a long job
indeed as I really want to make this one look the part and move right on the water.
So any feedback is always welcome and thanks.

Just out of curiosity, is that a Titan bandsaw there?
By the by, have you considered those so-called surface-mount LEDs? Some give a much better white glow than their counterparts.

I must learn to take tighter shots in future...... :} lol there's always something of interest in the background don't you think.
The Bandsaw isn't a Titan sadly but a Clarke and ideal for the hobbyist doing small one of jobs like me.
I have had it about a year and bought it for 30 quid from a chap who used it once, again for a small job then he just put it on the shelf
in the garage and covered it up, until I said i was after one myself so there it is. It goes nicely with the Clarke Fret saw next to it and the
Clarke Sander for when those cuts just need straightening up a little lol.
Have you any projects on the go or just finished? why not add a few pics for all to see........
Re the surface mounted LED's, my younger brother just called round with 2 small round units he had left over from fitting his kitchen out.
He was using them to go under his wall mounted units to light up the worktop area at night and these were left over and thought I could use
them to place behind the Launch when on the display stand I have yet to make. I thought it was a good idea too, so when the lounge lights get
dimmed or turned off you simply click them on and hey presto atmospheric lighting of the boat on the sideboard.
Oh forget the Golden Virginia, I am partial to Old Holborn.................lol.
More photos later in the week as i am doing the time consuming detail which is monotonous to say the least. In fact I do wonder where the time
goes when I am in the garage as I seem to have very little to show for say 5-7 hours doing it, you know the feeling I guess.

Give yourself a pat on the back for landing such a neat deal on the bandsaw. There's nothing wrong with Clarke machines. You're doing some pretty slick work with it - the proof is right there in the photos. In fact, I'd wager that your Clarke probably rolled off the same production line as every other half-decent bandsaw, albeit badged under a different name, is all.

Ever heard of Sea Queen? Thanks to Doug '99 sending me a copy of his plans, S'Queen is very much high priority on the to-do list. I have a workshop to prepare first, so when that's done, keep your eyes peeled for a few photos.

Thanks for the links folks, I will have a look when I can.
For now though I thought I would just add a few more pics of the progress on the build, sorry for the long delay but have been busy doing the house
and 'er 'indoors comes first as we all know then the dogs and kids and finally me. {-)
I still have a long way to go as you will see but for now it is taking shape thank goodness and starting to look something like the launch I want to achieve. :-))
Any comments please fire away as usual and I have added a couple of the boat in darkness but with the Cabin lit up for those that wanted to see it.

Coming along there very nicely Rosythe. I like the wooden housing for the tank with the valve protruding, very neat. The brass fret on the floor looks the part as well, very Victorian style.
Don't you just love working with wood like that and you finally get to varnish it and see all those wonderfull colours emerge.

I have just finished rubbing the plank on frame Hull down for the sixth time and she is now as smooth as a baby's bottom!
Cleaned it down with white spirit a couple of times and then given its first coat of new Hard Glaze High Gloss Varnish. Then another rub down as you do again and again between each coat
until she has about eight coats to give her the finish I want. So it shouldn't take long then!!!!!! Oh the trials of boat building, can't beat it.
As you have noticed I have the Gas Tank housing yet to finish and that will be done this week sometime but I need to get out and buy some more Mahogany strips for edging
off certain parts then onto other things.
I haven't worked out yet what way the Navigation lights will go, shall I just stick with Port and Starboard lighting or do I go for the whole hog and put a small mast up for'ard and show the
white light too! Any thoughts on this anyone??
I will post a few more images as I go along in due course and look forward to hearing from you all on them, I like this type of build diary it gets everyone involved, well those that want too
anyway.
I like to build them and then once complete sell them in full working order with all the radio gear so the new owner can get it on the water and enjoy it then I can look around for my next project
which may be a bigger boat or something a tad smaller we shall see.

You cant sell that beautiful boat,surely it would be a criminal offence,if i had put that amount of work in,the buyer would rip my arms off when taking her,as their is no way i would let go.

Sorry Mark, but someone is going to rip my arms off sometime because it will be for sale when done and hopefully just before christmas or after depending on when I can do it.
I know it may seem a shame but some folks like to build 'em and some like to buy and steam 'em or maybe even both, I like the first option as there is always a challenge to your next project.
I want it to be something a bit bigger next time though and I am looking at a twin boiler and engine set up in a wide hull which with 2 props should make it go like the clappers and look totally different to anything else out on on the pond too.............so who is going to rip my arms off then!!!!!!!!!!

Hey nice looking speedster you show there, is it called Miss Daisy? by any chance.
At a metre long I reckon she will really shift on the pond, is that the fastest you have had her up to so far?
My Launch currently at 62inches in length is one big baby but I still reckon if I up the prop size more she will turn a fair amount of speed.
I have dragged a large sheet of Copper from the roof of the garage today and can I heller'z like find my tin snips! so I have the material to work with but no snips.
Any how I am going to make a timber template up for an ornate rudder that will run from the prop itself along the stern line and up the stern itself and connect it up
to the Tiller arm yet to be designed to with an ornate finial on the top of the shaft. Once made it should look quite the part and i will polish it up and lacquer it so that it stays that way hopefully.
Lots to do and folks are firing all sorts of modifications to me to give it that certain look, but I stick to the principal of all steam launches/boats......K.I.S.S..........One chap said it should be made to look like a very expensive luxury steam yacht with masts to Bow and stern!!!! Any thoughts on that idea mayhemmers?
I can see where he is comming from on that with her lines and size but I haven't any pictures or info to refer to on what can be classed as Luxury steam yacht re visible fittings to the deck or cabin or whatever really so if no data or info can be found soon i will stay on track and 'keep it simple' stupid.
If you have any images to post for detail referral then go for it and I can have a look and see if it is possible in the timescale OK.............also if anyone has any spare brass fittings that would fit the bill and they wish to sell them I will endeavour to buy so again send some images please and we can go over the look i/we want to achieve, I would like as much input as possible from the hardened steamer launch builders on this scale as possible so please don't just look contribute and let me see what we end up with OK and THANKYOU in advance OK.

I forgot to add a few pics of the Hull and her first coat of Varnish to start her on the way to some sort of finish.
I did this coat the other night and have since rubbed down with wire wool and cleaned with white spirit and then given her the second coat of eight hopefully to
get the really high gloss I want.
I will be putting some foam padding on the stand today so that as the coats build up she won't get to many scratches.

I have had the metre steamer do 18 mph, but you must remember that my boats are straight running, so radio gear, some brave soul has to catch the thing. Its quite strange that when I produce a new boat everybody gets out of the water !!!!!!!!!
Back to the plot--------really nice work Rosyth coming along well, I thoughyou might like a look at mine, 5 ft long single cylinder 5/8 bore and stroke steam plant, fully fitted cabins (including the traditional tea-urn)

I have completed yet more detail of the open end part of the Launch and others may notice that I have extended the Canopy to cover the rear or stern section.
So if you have any thoughts on the Canopy change, ie is it to far back or should it not be their at all or should I stick to the original one let me know your thoughts.
The Hull has now had three coats of High Gloss Varnish and will get another tommorrow too.
The detail work is what is taking the time I am afraid and although its coming along it ain't quick enough, what was to be a half hour job takes hour an arf or so to get it right.
Anyhow I am nearly done with the Candy stripe as i call it, and the gas tank housing is now done except for the handrails to go either side for detail.
There are two dummy doors at the bow section which will hide a large onboard water tank for boiler feed, picture to be included next time if i remember ok.
Where the seats are each side I am going to be fitting Slatted seating boards in Mahogany which will compliment the backboard stripe, I hope.
If the new canopy is fine with everyone, then I am going to fit it with a full length of Copper sheet which will be polished and lacquered which again I hope sounds ok other wise I will
have to fit that nasty white plastic sheeting which I just hate on something like this, I feel it will bring the quality down to much so I don't like to use it if I can help it.
I may have to revert to Planking with Black Card in the middle or even better Get some decent sheets of Mahogany veneer to match the current deck and use that, but again its a lot of 'if's'.
I will wait and see what comes back first.
Anyone any thoughts on what size Navigation Lights to use or should I endeavour to make my own housing units for them.
I did pick up a key ring a while ago which was of Solid Brass and just for Starboard, couldn't find a Port key ring to match and if I take a picture of it I wondered if anyone was up to making me a set to match it then I can do the white nav lights too, I will take a picture and post it with dimensions just in case there is a kind clever lathe person out there wanting a challenge for a good cause :-))
I got the Book out again today to look at for some reference, the one the Steam boat association produce for their members and although it cost 99pence it was worth every penny just for the images so if anyone feels the need to borrow it for their build references I will gladly oblige ok.

Very nce. But with the canopy extended aft, how will the crew stand on the rear deck to handle the stern line? Let alone the crew's gf recline on the aft deck to catch rays.

Hi Folks, well it is about time I got some more work done and so I have been busy getting things together and getting it finished off.
I am waiting to do the lighting which will be thursday hopefully so I will post when done.
Doing all those fiddly bits takes time so I hope the images do it justice and give it the right look for when she goes on the water.
But I guess you'll soon tell me won't ya'. {-)

Bernhard, as the master of Model Steam Boats you are so darn right. You know what though, even though I cut it out and used double sided tape to mount it on a temporary basis
it's only when I loaded the pics onto the forum and viewed them that I thought the very same thing. To big, LUCKILY THOUGH i always try to make two of some patterns and the other one is
a lot less bulky and will replace it first thing in the morning and will fit the bill altogether. :-))
The Guy with the combat gear is going by the way, I just put him there for scale.
I will go and have a look at your latest link and see what's on offer maritime wise.

Cliff, looking at the pictures of your boat, it occurred to me that the railing seems too small in scale. Especially if you compare it to the height of the door, which is usually at least as high as a person standing. What do you think?

Yes it is me, I have a test fit and thought why not run it and do a small video clip then drop it on
youtube for all to see.
Trouble is I forgot I uploaded until you mentioned it as I don't get on youtube often enough to look
at Live steam in any form really.

I set her up last night in the garage and thought she was due another fire up, so after sticking on a larger 3 blade
prop she got filled up and fired and had her running for about ten minutes or so before I had to out.
I haven't had much time to do any more yet but as soon as I do I will upload the work straight away.
What are you up to these days, have you finished your latest project yet?

Hi Bernhard, the plant runs real well and is brand new really so it just needs a good running in session which I intend to give it when she is on the water.
My Navigation lamps arrived a few days ago and I am in the process of wiring them up on the Launch and they look just great.
The Max2 is now no longer with me but yes she ran really really well and was steam tight too. Real nice piece of kit that was but I sold quite a few
bits to buy my First 2INCH Traction Engine which I also uploaded to U-Tube which you may have seen.
I am in the process of buying another one which is a full showmans engine and more levers than you can shake a stick at on it.
When It lands I will post pics on U Tube.

Firstly Happy New Year to you all and I look forward to seeing what 2009 brings in all things Steam.
Sorry for the long lapse but what with Christmas and New Year, Kids, Grandchildren....In Laws etc etc you get the picture I haven't had time, no time whatsoever
to get out in the Hobby shed and do anything to the Build.
However things are going to change sometime soon as I do plan on making a bolt for the Garage under cover of Darkness soon! {-)
Last year just seemed to fly by which now I think about it seems to happen every year as you get older and I am only 48!
The Hull got her final coats of varnish before I ended the session and also most of the upper decks etc got 3 coats of Satin just to seal her in really.
I am still working out a good route for the Navigation wiring and Battery pack etc before do a final check on the Cabin roof placing then that when I am happy
I will seal that with some Satin Varnish too and then it will start to come together.
The Attenuator Valve is fitted and working a treat, or it was last time I tested so it should still be ok.
On the other Launch which is progressing very slowly again down to time and commitments but I have now obtained all the necessary Launch Fittings like Name Plates, Rudder assembly
and all the other stuff along with a very nicely made Steam Oil Separator Tank which I was going to hide but it looks so nice It will now go on show. The other nice bit of kit was the
Lanuch Steering Wheel in solid brass and the sterring column too which will look great when fitted.
So I will get time and take a few pics then upload to the thread ok.
Okay update short and sweet and now I will get cracking and finish her ready for a good old steaming session.

It looks excellent with plenty of piping options, also the ships wheel looks so good better than all that plastic and white metal stuff about these days !

ROSYTH, Its a lovely build but those handrails spoil the look of the model, you should feed though some 20 thou straight brass rod, it will enhance the appearance, you dont want to spoil the ship for a hapeth of tar. ron1

Ron, your right you know and I have some small lengths of Brass Rod but not enough to do it all.
I aren't tight but have you seen the price of that stuff in Model outlets it sure is expensive for what you get don't you think??
I guess it will need changing but only if I can get hold of enough rod to do it at the right price, so if you know any where that sells
the stuff at a reasonable cost let me know.
It is at that stage where adding the finishing touches will make all the difference but it must look right when on the water under way.
Ian, yep your right as you know this is one of John's new Tanks with lots of fittings to play around with, however this is for Lady Jane as is the
gorgeous wheel etc and it will look the business when fitted and all polished up and in steam on the pond.

I have been doing a little sorting out as we thought our 27 year old son was going to fly back home for the second/third time. So her indoors got me in the loft
to do a sort out. What a sort out it was too, 4 days turfing out boxes of unseen items for years and safe to say we or I got rid of a lot of accumulated rubbish and
made a lot of space only to find after working my Ba*&^ off he had changed his mind.
So now I have all this space and well it has to be used so I intend to put a massive 00 gauge Train Layout instead for the Grandchildren and me off course but only when
I aren't in the garage building boats which is the priority. So when I have finished this boat if anyone has a decent train layout or collection they want to do a deal on
just let me know ok.
Now its back to the grind more info updates soon........keep up the steaming..............

Evening all, well I thought I had better post a few more pictures of progress so far.
Which I am pleased to say is nearing completion, I have undercoated the roof twice with white ready for a rub down in the morning
prior to a coat of gloss white. Then I can finish fitting the Navigation lights to the switch and battery pack under the cabin.
There are a few bits and pieces of Bright work to play with but they can be added anytime.
The Steam plant is now fully fitted and in full working order with attenuator valve in good working fettle too.
All the pipework has been strung and finished with white gloss paint to make it stand out and easy to clean down.
All the radio control is fitted and in full working order too, easy job really.
I got round to adding a decent whistle today and although I wasn't going to I thought it would be a worthwhile addition. I have had to add a servo
which will be under the cabin and linked to a chain which will run along the deck and up via a wheel to allow it to work efficiently and it does too.
So here are a few more pics and one where I couldn't quite decide on what size pressure gauge to use, so I improvised!!!!! But got there in the end..............lol

Hi Rosyth......from Derek in Australia...I am a relatively new member here....but with +1200 postings on Paddleducks
The manufacturer of my steam boiler ...Sandy Campbell from ACS Engineering corrected men when I lagged the the syphon tube to the steam gauge
His comments were that it is preferable not to lag or insulate as it is designed to condense the steam to water & hence provide a snubber effect so the gauge is not subjected to steam & steam pressure fluctuations ....sounded sound to me..... O0 so I rebuilt & extended the syphon tube length & removed the cotton thread insulation
Apart from that...excellent build :-)) .....Derek

that's useful to know Derek, I've often wondered why syphon tubea are long and sometimes have a loop or two.

That's correct, the loop on the syphon is to condense water and keep the hot steam away from the delicate pressure gauge.

Evening all, may I say a big thank you to all for the comments it is well appreciated I can tell you.
The lagging on the pressure, well it has a double bend in the pipe work and on the size it is I don't think it will do to much
damage or cause any really long term problems, anyway if it does I always have the Larger one to use as a Back up. {-) {-)
I am waiting for the Gloss coat to dry on one side before doing the top side and then she can be placed on cabin and made ready
for final fixing in place after which I have the Nav lights which will be a quick job as they are all ready to go, wiring and all.
I will post some more pics when that is done and then I will put her on the Pond in the Garden and have a test steam session to see how
much ballast needs to be added if any because she rode well on the first go...........I will do a video of her on the pond and post it on You tube
with a link on the posting for all to see.................
Any other items folks think I should add, please feel free. I have some 1/12th Scale Victorian figures arriving in due course and will fit the size
and period of launch quite well so again once they are settled aboard I will post pics which I think will really bring the Launch to life especially when
under way........... we shall see.

Hi all, well nearly there but not quite..................
I had a couple of hours to kill today and wondered what needed doing still and I thought Boat Hooks, that's what.
So I spent some time banging up a bundle of them in different styles and wondered what you thought to them and
which pair would best suit the Steam Launch, so have a look at the pics and drop some feedback on which ones ok.

Hi Rosythe, Lovely work on the model and the boat hooks, I'm really looking forward to seeing it on the water. As for which boat hook, my own prefernce is not to go over the top with decoration so I tend to prefer a bit of class and style rather than too ornate. My choice would be either Number two or three starting from the top. They really look the part without being too much.

Well spotted Steamboatphil, you are the only one who did though. As you say HOOK! they are all in a row as a HOOK as I swivelled them round after the picture was taken so well done you :-))

I was based on HMS STUBBINGTON and than HMS GURKHA at Rosyth Naval Dockyard and the last stint was a 6 month deployment in the West Indies where you see all sorts of craft and
methods of tying up alongside....................
I saw a few nice launches that were quite old and still steam driven and they look like the old colonial boats all polished brass and attention detail just how I like them.
If anyone would like a pair making up with the Long Wooden shaft as in no 2/3 from the top of the pic shown above, just let me know what length shaft you want and I can go from there ok.
My 1/12th Scale Family have just arrived so they will be placed on board there new home!!! :D

Well, I guess the Launch is done..............did I really say that! Yip sure did.
I did some of the final touches last night and finished her this morning just as the snow started falling and began to lay and well now it is just white over out there and this is
the first time since it started that we have had any snow that actually laid. It sure looks cute out their I can tell but no good at all for sailing Steam Launches {-)
So until I can get her into the Pond and have a steaming session her are the latest pics of her ready to launch and make waves ok.
If I should have missed anything then please do point it out ok and thanks to all who contributed................
All I have to do now is wait for a break in the weather before saling her but if it is going to be too long well it is going to be sold and may well go on ebay so that I can
move to the next project..............which will be about the same size once I have Lady Jane completed. Lady Jane will be going in her own Display Case when she is done so that
I can take her out with the Grandchildren in the summer which I am looking forward too I can tell ya.

Hi Rosyth......super detail...but a question... is it correct to have Red & Green navigation lights also facing the stern? >>:-(....I thought the right angle light box was to preclude seeing light beyond a perpendicular position of sight behind box..... O0
A picture says a thousand words.....looks like my 90 degrees was incorrect as 112.5 degrees included angle appears law.... :-)) Derek

as she is without folks onboard as they just didn't look right or fit in as I thought they would.
I bet that has pleased a few folk and that includes me too............... Doll's House indeed............now its a STEAM LAUNCH again......... {-) {-) :-))

Having had around five inches of snow yesterday which looked gorgeous we woke to find most of it gone thank goodness, so if I can today I want to put the boat on the pond with the Koi
and see how she goes, she is 62inches long so not much room for turning about etc but i'll have a go ok.

Sorry all.........when I said......"perpendicular position"...I may have been in a semi demented state laying on the floor trying to visulise the green & red lights "coming to" but not ....as I could not see them "returning from" to port or to stdb.......
So I rest my case ....to restate that the horizontal line of vision is horizontal.....where as a perpendicular position .... :o is only tall %%....
But you must not have green & red lights facing aft >>:-( >>:-( >>:-( Derek

I have some video of her on the pond and she looks mint with the cold weather and steam effect being better.
I will post it on you tube sometime over the weekend or Monday as I am away for a Lunchdate on Sunday.
I think I will add the link to the ebay listing too as I have had three offers already for buy it now option!!! we shall see though if it don't get near a decent price its coming with me
when we move aboard our Canal Boat or Narrowboat to others.

Well it looks as though its doing a little better now, although I have had a couple of offers one for 600 quid another for 665!! why 665 I don't know and the last one 725 so we'll see how it goes a little further on down the line eh.
Whatever it reaches the next owner will have a decent launch to play with in the coming Summer months.
I haven't forgotten the video, just in from our lunch date in the Murder Capitol of East Yorkshire, Bridlington. We managed to get out ok and arrive home safetly :-))
so i should have it on for Monday now.

Hi Folks, I reckon if she was put on a good stretch off open water the steam plume would look great too.
She does ride a little high in the water but I will leave any Ballast sorting to the new owner as everyone is different.
I think she has less drag in the water as she is with the backend sat low down making the bow ride a little higher than normal, however if you saw the cavernous interior
of the Bow section you'd be amazed at what you could get in there.
Water Tanks to name but one 1 off each I guess to feed the boiler and another to take the excess exhaust etc etc. Plenty of space under the Cabin and under the stern hatch to do things with.
Thats the good thing with a slightly bigger boat, it leaves any other items that folks want to add in as and when they get them or even change the spec/design after it is a Model.
Yip the bids have risen a little since last post so that is good, I know what I have in her in regards to Plant etc so we'll see how much further it goes as my last one which I sold on ebay last year early part fetched just short of 900 and the chap wanted it posting to him in Liverpool. He hadn't told his wife of the purchase so when this massive parcel landed whilst he was at work, he told me she wasn't best pleased. At 48inches long he was going to display it on the mantlepiece {-) {-) but she had other ideas {-) and said if it went on the Mantlepiece he would be going out the door to live onboard {-) {-) {-) so he moved it to the SHED a mans sanctuary when the weather is good {-) :-))
He has since sailed her and is very happy indeed as it drew a small crowd around him as some had never seen a scale steam launch on the pond, mostly electric so he had a good interesting session as did the onlookers.
Ok folks, not long now and with just under 200 people watching its progress it should be interesting to say the least. It is their to sell and sell it will as I have to move on. I am in the loft right now doing this post amongst accumulated items which I am sorting out to clear the decks. I have a mountain of Old Blue and White Pottery to get rid off from Large Meat Plates down to small Jugs, there's loads of it and I ain't relishing the job ahead. I have a full size eight day working Grandfather clock with painted dial along with an Amercan Wall clock which all have to go. The list goes on and on..............so back to it I'm afraid..........

Hey Folks, the Launch SOLD then and not to bad a price either. The chap who bought it also Previously Bought my Launch Topaz which he awaiting arrival of in the Virgin isles so he going to have a good collection of my boats before to long.
Anyway onto the next one now but this one is a kit and hopefully won't take as long to do.............I hope!
