It is inappropriate to show a photograph taken in 1957, but not lots of them of grey warships that killed thousands of people.........

Mayhem. As you probably realised by now this is a model boat forum first, it's a family forum second, ie, high morals and
standards etc.
Stick around Rob, we're all here to talk boats at the end of the day and threads like this are just a bit of fun, a distraction. :-))

Whilst I can appreciate that fact that is firstly a model boat forum and secondly a family forum, shouldn't we also realise that nowadays 99% of kids over the age of...say, eight years old, know far more about the female form (unclothed or not) that we probably do at our age? I didn't see the pic that was removed, it was gone before I got there, but a semi-clothed or even a fully nude female body is'nt going to arouse any primeveal instincts in any child nowadays.
Those under the age of eight wouldn't know what it was, and those over the age of eight wouldn't give it a second glance anyway.
I don't wish to seem to be taking sides here, and I'm not arguing with the moderators decision to remove or edit any post they see fit to do so, in my opinion the mods on this forum do a splendid job and often get wrongly criticised for it...I'm just stating my two pennies worth.
Call it art...call it pornography...but I wager that any kids who happen to see a naked female body would probably be thinking "oh no, not again...what is it with these adults?"

I think you are missing the point a bit Rich. It's not a case of whether kids can see the same or worse elsewhere, I'm sure they do. It's a question of whether it is APPROPRIATE for this particular Forum and the ethos we want to promote on Mayhem. As TT says, if you want to see pictures of scantily clad females there's plenty of other places to go. It isn't a matter of being prudish, Martin and the Moderators simply feel that this is not what Mayhem is about.
Compared with other Forums I belong to, the Chit Chat section of Mayhem is pretty liberal as it is in permitting a wide range of non boating subjects to be discussed. For want of a better word I think we all wish to keep Mayhem a civilised place to visit and enjoy ourselves.

Fair do's Colin, I'll not argue with that at all...I've been on several forums where the social banter really does get out of hand and things go downhill rapidly..name calling is almost to the point of slander/libel. I agree with you completely, MBM is a liberal site, and I for one am in favour of that..I enjoy a bit of banter as much as the next man, you know that.
MBM has high standards and should be kept that way...more power to your Moderating fingers sir!!
