Title: DIY TX & RX field Charger
Post by: Bill D203 on December 12, 2008, 08:58:17 pm
Hello
Dose anyone have a circuit for a TX & RX field charger? What I am looking for is a DIY charger that can either put in lets say 500mA Fast charge or steady overnight charge. All of which can be used of the Car battery. I do not need it mains powered at all.
I am quite happy to make my own PCB if needed, or made up on vero strip. Which ever!

Hi Bill.
Did you ever get that sorted?
So long as the Tx battery was not 8 cells it would need a diode, jack socket and fused cigar connector with a jack plug.

Hi there Merry Christmas and all that stuff.
Yes I have made a circuit up which will either charge the RX & TX battery's at 25mA low charge or 130mA high charger from a 12 volt jelly cell. I got a 2 amp 3 dig blue LCD back light panel meter on Ebay which i plan to mount in a field tool box/ Hydro holder etc. It should look and work OK. The charge is enough for a overnight charge when I'm away at boating weekends. Well the basic unit i made for Llanberis seem to do the job.
