Some of the lads I worked with have FLT licences for years. Now they have to do NVQ. I think its the goverment bringing everybody up to speed on Health n Safety.
I am afraid you need a ticket for any job now.

Hi rich........not elf n safety doing it ...our lords and masters in brussels decided in their infinite wisdom that by a certain date every single person in the land had to have a qualification n.v.q etc . etc ..to prove they are competant to do what they have been doing for years anyway.
My wife has been a carer for 30 years and should have retired 2 years ago but decided "xxxxx" that i'll keep working cos thats what i do , she will now probably stop now next year cos she can't carry on doing it without a peice of paper that says she knows what she is doing..... <*< So 30 years experience doesn't count for as much as a peice of paper that takes 9 months or so to get..
Common sense has dissapeared
regards......bob.

It gets worse...next week I have to take a NVQ exam to see if I can drive a LHD sweeper. I've only been driving a sweeper for..oh, I dunno...ten years or so? I've got all the relevant HGV licences, but I'm told that they are not enough now.

Watched a programme on tv last night, outlining the problems school teachers are having with disruptive and disturbed children in classrooms. These children are the product of their upbringing and feckless parents and 18,000 of them were removed from their schools because their behaviour was damaging to themselves and aothers around them.
Is it not about time we had NVQ for 'would be' parents?

I believe that they do in the USA.
Unfortunatley the feckless ones are the ones who really need it but would be the least likely to sign up. unless it was a condition of getting your Giro

I don't think it would be problem for this government, they have introduced more than 3,500 new laws since gaining power. As I see it, usually not in the interest of continuity in the well being of the law abiding hardworking taxpayer.
Come to think of it, what about NVQ for politicians?
-
Most of these new laws only affect the normally law abiding citizen.

They don`t affect politicians then! Pete M
