Only just seen this news report from October , (

31 October 2008 04:24am Add commentsA major search operation was abandoned after flashing lights spotted in the sea turned out to be a model boat bearing a birthday greeting, coastguards said.

Ten coastguards were sent out and a lifeboat dispatched after an off-duty police officer reported seeing white and red lights 200 yards from the beach at Staffin Bay, off the Isle of Skye.

The teams feared the lights may be coming from the lifejacket of a sailor or a life-raft and began a search around 6.40pm. But when they the got to the scene all they found was an 8in long model boat with red and white lights and a yellow sail bearing the words "Happy 42nd Birthday Ollie".
