Not Built ZULU but i have SOLEBAY.

Not bad kits BUT do not take the plan and marked plasticard as Gospel.

Measure TWICE cut once and it might Fit.

Also not enough railings in my kit to finish model .

A friend? sellected a Deans Marine as his first model boat, not much seemed to fit and it has taken a lot of encouragment to keep him going.

I have built one.
She did have some fitting problems, nothing major, but pays to check with paper templates.
But did turn out as a very seaworthy model with a realistic turn of speed.

Yep I got and built the Dean's Zulu instead of Nubian.

Nice little kit but as others have said, beware the marked out sheet for decking etc (although to be fair I now know to be careful with any manufacturer's deck markings!). Also found some of the resin casting were not too good either. Other things Id watch for are the measurements for the internal hull braces. They caused me some problems when fitting the decks and bilkheads as they seemed to be in the wrong places.

I found the bridge structure quite difficult to get right from the many pieces of plasti card! As Zulu was my first scale ship, I'd best describe her as stand off scale rather than exact.

Mine certainly didnt, but I always put more deck stringers in.
I might be teaching you to suck eggs, but keep the top as light as you can and ballast her down to the top of the boot topping.
I ran mine on 1 x 550 motor on 6volt 4ah gell cell, but now would seriously consider the high capacity MiNim 8.4 volt batteries.
I used builders lead flashing to get her deep, easy to fit and not that expensive and the battery sits nice and low on top of it.

thanks Bob....did you have the radar bed operational ?i am concerned about the weight of any power source in the superstructure, adding to top weight.

Yes I did motorise the radar, I used a stripped down servo, but it was rather noisey.

my father in law also served on her.. I am just approaching the completion of my first kit which is deans marine.. Im very happy with it though the resing and whitemeatl can be rough and it pays to measure everything three times....

I've just bought a big Deans Marine warship kit today and was eyeing up a few others (Zulu included) while I was there! Ron very kindly burnt a CD for me with at least 1,000 (if not more) construction photos for me to crib from - the tiniest of building detail is portrayed somewhere on there - hopefully I'm going to say magic, but as for your problem, I would certainly give Deans Marine a shout - they are on their open days for the next two days so they will be available!  ;)
