Title: Scalpel Blades
Post by: sinjon on September 29, 2006, 02:22:29 pm
Does anyone know where I can get chisel ended scalpel blades, - the blade cut at 90 deg. Nothing in Proops, none in my local model shop.
I'm cutting away deck planking to drop in Bollards, winches etc. Vertical cutting for me, seems to be the accurate way.

You don't say what type of handle you have.

Squires  01243 842424 do one for Excel half inch wide fits handles 2 & 5 item 141-518

Also one for Swann Morton handles 2 & 5 also half inch - item 9138

  Thanks Doug,

Of course the handle is relevent, I have two, both with chisel blades, an X-ACTO, with a 1/2'' blade,  (thanks for the telephone no.) but also an american one with what looks like  MAXX on the handle this had a blade that was about 5mm, I say about, because this afternoon it snapped, and has pinged off somewhere in my workshop.

The decking planks are only 1.5mm wide. the 1/2'' blade is a bit cumbersome

Don't know where you are located, but I was in a Craft Central outlet in Derby this morning and they had the blades you are looking for - I think. The brand was X-something - NOT Xacto. If it wasn't very wet outside I would go to my shed to find out ;D

If you can find another Craft Central outlet you may be lucky.
