We spent a rainy day Saturday at Ramsgate, and I was appalled at the current state of the Cervia. She looks in a very bad way..Great , great shame to see such an historic vessel left to the ravages of time...... <:(.. <:(.. <:(.....Smudge

sadly, soon only models of these ships will be any reminder to once venerable old girls.

hi all I have just sat and watched an 'old' black and white film 'The long memory' starring John Mills - several sequences show shots of tugs/towing barges etc. One of the tugs which is used looks awfully like the Cervia tug. Does anyone know if the Cervia was used in the making of this film?

Hi john as far as i know she never towed barges just ships.
That was probably one of the danube tugs very similar in shape.
I agree wih you she is looking very sad.

I think she needs more than a lick of paint, when I saw her last year I spoke to a guy that helps look after her. He said she had recently been raised of the bottom due to sick rivets leaking in the engineroom and she was going to be put in the dry dock as she was no longer safe to be left afloat. He also said that the wooden fishing boat in the drydock the last of her type to work out of the port was to be demolished to make room for her.
