Title: Fleet speedmaster speed control

Hi all,
I have been asked to "sort out" a boat fitted with fleet radio gear.
After charging the batteries the transmitter shows charge and the reciever shows 5v+.
when all is connected the model is dead.

I am looking for someone who can give me details of th Fleet Speedmaster speed control. ie amps & volts

I think the radio is needing to be updated.

Do the servos operate at all or is the whole shebang just dumb?
Could be all manner of unlovely reasons for this e.g. incorrect or incompatible crystals; batteries OK off load but unable to supply power when switched on; incorrect polarity in wiring somewhere; one or more U/S unit or internal component etc etc ad infinitum.
Unable to find any info on Fleet ESC, but seem to recall they were 15A 6v-12v.
Fleet was nice gear in its day, but so was the original Orbit 3+1 - and the spares/circuits are equally as available.

Hi FLJ,
       Tranny ok (i think), possible reverse connection on reciever. battery lead red 5+v, black neg,white 5+v. Took pack apart white and red wire to pos, black to neg.
Apparntly other members have tried to get this boat working before.
 Cut servo lead and fitted futaba plug. connected to futaba 40mhz set. servo just started to smoke, so binned servo. fitted a new futaba one.
 cut speed control lead and fitted futaba plug. speed control works ok with futaba set.

so reciever or transmitter fault, but as no repair service available, now replaced all radio other than speed control and boat works ok.

I now have a 40mhz Fleet tranny and reciever, with charger and chrystals. maybe i will keep an eye on flee bay and see what comes up

It should work with a single conv Futaba receiver eg R118F

I have a Fleet complete set up from way back and I love it. But it is just one of several RC sets I use. I bought the small rubber TX aerial they used to sell and it is very convenient, no chance of poking anybodies eye out!

If you do not want to cut wires it should be possible to obtain a short cable with appropriate plug and socket I think Hunter Systems used to stock them. But it may not be possible to buy Fleet plugs now. Fleet gear does come up on Ebay now and then.
