:)can anyone help me.
what type of varnish do i paint my tug hull with satin or mat,i would like to know which varnish does not yellow if sprayed on top of white mat paint and can you use household satin varnish.

I prefer satin varnish myself, but again it's your boat. The best varnish to use, which i have been using for years is Ronseal clear satin varnish. The stuff is quick drying, scratch resistant, and most of all waterproof ;D
I mix it with thinners and airbrush it on, be sure to totaly clean your airbrush if you use one, the stuff sets quickly and goes as hard as nails!

Check out my Robbe Dolly, Weathered Snowberry, Tsekoa in your builds section, as i used this stuff on all my models with great results ;)

Allways use satin, the gloss makes things "toyish", I use satin spray paint for hulls, ie red lead for antifouling and satin black for hulls (Tug builder), the decks I hand paint with humbrol then brush on a coat of satin varnish both to seal the matt paint and to give a more durable finish.

Ronseal Mattcote leaves a very slight sheen, so I do use that.
