Title: What scale
Post by: fastboat on October 28, 2006, 10:27:28 pm
Trying to understand scale. Have plans from model mag in 1/30th scale. I'm converting a 1/25th model to this plan. How much more do I draw my ..say cabin to fit this hull............1/16 or 1/8th. I hope I made this clear...........Fastboat

Have a look at this thread in Construction Queries which deals with converting one scale to another.

Take the measuments from the 1/30th scale plan and multiply it by 1.2 to give the measurment in 1/25 scale. 8)

Plan measurment x 30 = full size
Full size  divided by 25 = new scale size.

  30  = 1.2
  25

Talking of scale. I have the Model slipway's  'Aziz' and the scale is 1/50.

What size would a 6 foot model crew member be.

Thank you Richard.

I am at George Turner's site now and see they are are 1.5 inches.  I shall end up with quite a 'Beefier' crew  :D

What do you other guys think of adorning your models with figures. Is it the done thing   ;D

Cheers ... Ken

Hi...

Personally I do fill up my boats with figures - unless you are modelling the 'Marie Celeste' of course!  ;D

There's a thread on here about that very subject.....

I have crew on my boats , adds interest.

Might look a bit odd if you wanted to display museum style :-\

There is for free, a download, a small program called Scalemaster, google it and it will allow you to work out any scale easily....
