Title: K Class submarines
Post by: marmoi on July 09, 2009, 08:58:51 am
Does anyone know of any drawings for the early K class steam submarines, in particular I am looking for details of the conning and funnel area?

There is also quite a good article in the Warship periodical No 8 from quite a while back with several useful pictures.

 Dear Sub men
 There is a freelance basic set of mouldings in the Mouldeans range of hulls for  a early K boat to 1.72 scale, hull and deck with funnel casing only

Thanks for everyones help, I have got the plans now and the hull.  I have scanned and blown up the drawings to 1/72. The model is only goinfg to be a suface runner for two reasons;

1. Their diving reputation was awful, they seemed to spend a lot of time nose down in the sea bed.  <:(

2. I want to see if I can squezze a small foggy inside to get some authentic looking smoke out.

Like the picture Andrew, I am planning on building K3, what scale is your model?

K-boat quote from captain to 1st mate (in after engine room)  "I say, No1, my end's diving - what's your end doing?"
