Title: Use of Futaba Skysport 4 with a hitec receiver?
Post by: gyronuts on July 15, 2009, 04:50:38 pm
Hi,
I have a hitec Zebra 3 40 Mhz FM Tx with a Hitec 5 channel Rx ZR 106SF, the set up provided with the Zebra 3.
The throttle is set up on the trim on top of the Tx and the diving planes on my sub are on the throttle.
Must be getting old as I am finding it extreeeeeeeeemely difficult to co ordinate the two!!!!
however, I have a Futaba skysport T4YF 40 Mhz Tx for my other boat but when i try it out with the zebra TX crystal fitted, the hitec Rx does not respond..just gitters etc.
Do i have to dismantle the model to fit another Rx , or buy a hitec 4 or 6 channel TX ( would that be compatible)... or what would you suggest?
thanks. Bill

Hadn't thought of that thanks.
Here is another one for you....if the throttle on the hitec is the slider on the top, and my control of the planes was on the throttle..on the futaba 4 will the throttle be on the right and the planes on the left.
It is a conventional throttle left Tx.
 thanks again. Bill

Yes - I think  %% On the 4 channel Tx you will have channels 1 & 2 on 1 stick, and  3 & 4 on the other. On your 3 channel, the slider is channel 3, so should be on the opposite stick to the planes.

Hope his helps!

Fit a futaba crystal in the futaba transmitter and all will be well except the channel assignments are different on the hitec and futaba <*<

Futaba use
channel 1 as primary direction control (aileron)
channel 2 as elevator
channel 3 as throttle
channel 4 secondary direction control (rudder)

I can't remember the hitec assignments but the simplest answer will be to waggle a stick you want to use for a particular function and then plug the relevant servo into the reciever channel that responds  :-))

futaba crystal worked a treat. throttle on the left but movement reversed, rudder on the right stick movement reversed and planes in the correct sense on the right stick.. Magic. only need to change two switches ( and the crystal!!) to operate both subs. thanks. Bill
