Title: Ripmax Carlson Tug Conversion
Post by: rem2007 on July 22, 2009, 10:23:44 pm
Thought I'd change the name from What is this  ...to gain more insight from the tugboat guys. Here are a couple pics of the work so far. Changed the hull colour and added antifoul below water line. have put in proper windows and frames, drilled door portholes, planked a wooden deck (pleased with this, as it first time doing it) and just getting down to detailing. Lil was my Irish mother in law from Antrim, but spent the majority of her life after the war here in Brixham... hopefully have her maiden voyage at the Torbay Steam fair next weekend.

Comments from the tug experts appreciated.

No, not really military, thats just primer on the superstructure, she'll be green up top. I have the fenders as well, but have to raid the loft (hoover museum {-)) to get the funnel piece to cut. Then a few bollards and some deck clutter as time goes on and she'd not look out of place down by the Brixham quay.

idea: two square uptakes either side of the main superstructure, and a full width bridge whos doors are atop the steps

Hmm, good idea, but too late already went green. But I do have uptakes from the kit supplied, binned the decals as they looked naff, also have fenders but this isd the new paint job, may go white on the cabin and grey on that deck.
