Title: Companies from the past

Hi.
During a discussion last night; the subject of model boat companies that we used to use came up. One Company that I and a lot of others used, was Radestocks, (Ted) on the Wirral, I know that the owner gave up the Company of his own choice, but does anybody know what happened to the firm after that, I still have the excellent 1/96th running gear for the Isle of Man Steam Packet S.S.Tynwald that Radestocks produced, still unused unfortunately.

George took over the props and Mike Mayhey bought the mould for the German Destroyer

I used to love going to Ted's. You'd go up the stairs to his loft (where his 'factory' was) and bang your head on the ceiling, and when you'd finished you'd come back down and bang your head again! I miss those bruises, Aahh great times!

Ted had to finish the props because the result of all the polishing on a buffing machine meant he ended up with arthritic hands and he could barely hold a mug of tea in the end. He was my first retailer for my parts and became a very good friend who we visited from time to time , on our way to the Lake District.
Ted put my fittings with Barry at Westbourne Models when he retired but I now have an on-line shop with a great deal more fittings available.
