I have a Futaba attack 2 ER transmiter set.
I have just plugged a Hitec 815BB into the reciever.
The 815BB should have 140degree of turn. However when I tested the beast it only rotates through about 90 degrees :(.
What am I doing wrong? ???

Hi Mate probable nothing as Hitec winches do rotate differently in different radios, I have several hitec winches and they do the same thing, it will rotate the full four turns if used with a hitec radio...

A lot depends on what you hope for from compatiblity. All of the major manufacturers products will work together to an extent.
All of the makers want you to stick to just their products, so dont expect total like for like. If you move the stick left or right, and the servo does the same on both transmitters, thats probably as near as it gets.
You will notice that while all have now settled on a common pin spacing and layout, most have odd bits of moulding to make it just that bit more difficult to plug in a different makers product.

You may find compatibility of Hitec and Futaba crystals a bit of a problem. Pete M

I have bought generic (ie not badged) 40mhz AM crystals from Howes and Anglia Model Centre. I have used them in both Futaba and Hitec sets with no problems.

Hi if it is of any help I have had trouble with Futaba and acoms not talking properly to each other ,v similar problem.I now keep things simple Futaba with Futaba, Acoms with Acoms etc it seems to solve the probs.I personally think that these manufacturers do it on purpose the "xxxxx" us about ie costing us money. In an ideal world all systems would talk to each other properly, but alas it is not an idea;l world!!

Europe has 15 incompatible Air traffic systems. Think about that the next time you fly UK - Germany/Italy/Spain etc
Of course everyone agrees that there should be one system however, there are 15 different opinions on which system it should be!!

I hope you checked with SWMBO that it was OK to say so ;D ;D

I have used both types of servo with Futaba & Hitec equipment. Depending on the age of the equipment there may be differences in the dead band position. If this is a problem I move the feedback pot in the servo to correct. I also use an Action servo checker which helps match servos.Just make sure you are not overdriving the servo past its end stop, it will flatten your battery and may damage the servo.

An interesting discovery 8).
When tesitng the Hitec 815 BB with a friends Futaba FM 4 channel, we got 170 degrees of rotation ;D, without using the trim and 180+ degrees using the trim. ;D ;D
Something to consider for those who do not want to modify a servo to turn further :-\. The downside is that the 815BB is a monster :o, and would not fit in smaller craft :(.
