Is this Ark Royal from the 1950s,60s and 70s, the one featured in the BBC 'Sailor'documentary series???
-
the one from the 50's is Ark Royal IV
if you are looking for Ark III then you maybe best getting the
Airfix model to give some guidance :-))
If it is Ark Royal IV then I havesome good info I have been
getting alot of stuff together to build it in 1:72nd scale :-))
-
I have a mate who's building one from the 1960's Ark Royal, [ picture in this months Navy News Oct 09] and he had a hell of a problem trying to get plans, he was offered a set but were going to cost a few hundred pounds, in the end he got a set from Wirral Archives in Birkenhead, as she was built at Lairds, and they keep a lot of information so i am told, but as you are building a 1950 Ark this is useless information to you, unless she was built a Lairds as well.

Hi
I have seen this book on Ebay but haven't bought it as most of these books have the most common general shots and no detail shots,I could be wrong, have you looked at this book?
-
I haven't seen this book specifically, but I do have three of his other books which are very good. They normally have a lot of general shots of the whole ship, but there are also a few shots of specific areas as well.

I came across this plan and wondered if it would be useful to you:

I made this Ark about 10years ago using the Nexus plans at the link that you provided. The plan although it makes a good looking model is really just a "stand off" scale model, still at the time I was fairly impressed by my efforts. See looks a bit grim now though with a number of years of storage grime!
I would recommend these plans for anyone who wants a good basic plan that looks the part
