Title: Hello folks.
Post by: The Antipodean on December 04, 2009, 08:40:26 pm
Hi to everyone.

I am a New Zealander living in America, Tennessee to be exact. I am not new to modelling but I am new to modelling forums.
In the past I have built a 29" Plaudit with a clinker hull and a 60" Schnellboot, was a sad day when I had to leave them behind when I emigrated.

Currently I am building a small lighterage tug based on a Plaudit hull with my own design superstructure.

Slow going but scratchbuilding is fun.

I have designs for a 3/4" = 1' Plaudit plus I am building a Bantam Tug for my grandson at the same scale.

It has been great reading the posts on this forum and looking through the galleries of builds and boatshows. Some very skilled people here who have produced some wonderful craft. I look forward to seeing much more.

Welcome aboard.  :-))

You remind me of a funny, but true story I have. When I was studying Chinese in Shanghai University, there was a guy there from the Antipodes, I could tell by the accent. Knowing how sensitive Kiwis are to being called Ozzie, I politely asked "What part of the Antipodes are you from?". To which came the reply, "No I'm not, I'm from Australia."  :embarrassed:

I like that one, and I do get asked a lot if I am from Australia, living in Tennessee it amazes me that they know there are countries outside their borders besides Mexico and Canada. I have also be asked if I am British or from Boston.

It is 29" x 8" and I haven't got a finished weight yet as there is none of the electrics in it yet.
I know it will be heavy when it is done as it will sit low in the water.

It is a 4 blade 45mm brass prop with the ends squared off to fit in the steerable Kort nozzle.
