little bit thick on this one
if i have 2 6v battery packs and use a y lead to put them together will that make it a 12v and blow my reciver and servo's or will it stay at 6v but give me more running time wich i am looking for
the thing is i am limited for space but 2x 5 cell flatt AA just fit nice
so can any one help or know of a way to do it or know of a web site that explains ?????

if you connect + on one battery pack to - on the other and put the other + and- to the ESC that gives you 12 volts. If you put + to + and then to one side of the motor, and - to - and to the other motor terminal, you get a longer lasting 6 v. If you think about it the first way gives you all the cells in a row so you get all the volts from all of them, but the second way taps off 6v from each pack but doesn't add them together. No doubt I could confuse you by going on about paralell and series, but you'd probably remember it better if you looked them up for yourself.

You can buy Y-leads which will either turn two 6v batteries into 12v (series) or mak a longer lasting 6v (parallel).

You will see that the parallel types (which are the ones you want)just have two sets of wires from each battery to the central connector, while the series types have one wire directly joining the two battery connectors.
Check what battery connectors you need, and then ask the seller for a parallell connector....

Come on guys the man is talking battery packs here not lead acid batteries, thought we were told that it is dangerous to link 2 battery packs in this way.

How many servos etc are you running from the receiver? These days a "standard" 4-cell AA Rx pack will exceed 2AH on its own. That will give you over ten hours' running time with a full set of four servos and/or ESCs. Just because you have two packs doesn't mean you need them both connected at the same time.
The other options are:
1. Use the packs one at a time, changing them over physically when one starts to get tired; or
2. Use a DPDT switch to change over electrically from one pack to the other.
I'd be very wary of connecting up two NiMH or NiCAD packs in parallel if I were you; there's more to it than just the arithmetic.
