Title: New MPBA Website
Post by: Colin Bishop on January 01, 2010, 08:25:57 pm
The MPBA have now launched their new website which is a vast improvement on the old one - http://www.mpba.org.uk/index.html

There is also a link to the latest versions of their very useful information leaflets on the Model Boats website homepage.

Is there anybody left in the MPBA ? a few years i tried to join there was a Phone number that went to answer phone I left 5 messages as I wanted to do  the scale steering that year and not a single reply I gave up. It was the correct phone number as it was on the web site and in MB each month.

I have had a fairly quick look at this updated site, particularly at the list of affiliated clubs.

Apart from the national club in Ireland, all affiliated clubs seem to b English: none in Wales or Scotland.

Are there national Associations for Wales and Scotland to which local clubs are affiliated. If so, what is their relationship, if any, to the MPBA

Thanks

Peter,

I can't answer for the past as I have only just become involved with the MPBA, but I can tell you that there is now a downloadable membership leaflet on the new web site, and also an e-mail address for the new Membership Secretary. Her telephone number is also there, but I can't promise you an answer from that.

If you are still interested in joining, please try one of tose methods and if they don't work let me know. There is no point me maintaining a web site if others don't respond to enquiries %)

I don't know why there are no Scottish or Welsh clubs. As far as I know there is no reason for them not to be affiliated.

Barrie (MPBA Webmaster)

Ps Thanks to Colin for the publicity

There have been clubs in both Scotland and Wales affiliated to the MPBA in the past, but over the years they have chosen not to rejoin (as have some clubs in England) for one reason or another. it is hoped that some clubs will rejoin, especially if club members maybe show an intrest in taking part in MPBA events.
We are really trying to revamp the MPBA as you can see by our nice new web site, and our increase in public liability insurance to £10 million. We are now also looking at holding non competitive events (rather like a mini Mayhem) to try and encourage further membership.
Any idea's or suggestions you might have will of course be taken on board (hows that for a good connection)
