I have just been looking at the Anton web page, there are some really nice looking plants and engines on there, the Quartz has really taken my fancy, it must be a little jewel of an engine.
Oh dear, that's another on the wannawanna list, right next to the Monahan Sparrow.
Anyone got an Anton?

I have the Anton Crystal. :-)

WOW! I don't know which I prefer, the engine or the scenery :}
What do you think of the engine? They look very well made, but that's just from the photos.

Thanks Neil,
Marten, Howes & Baylis offer the option of either the Quartz or the Crystal in both Topaz and Der Seekadett. Don't know about you, but that's a good enough recommendation for me! O0
Here is the Crystal with the M,H & B boiler in Topaz. The other pictures were taken when I had it out of the launch for a routine cleaning.

and with a watch for scale:
I'm extremely happy with mine, it runs like a sewing machine, has never given me any problems, and is more than capable of pushing Topaz through the water at substantially greater than scale speeds! The quadrant smoothly and seamlessly moves the engine from forward to reverse, and the throttle control is very responsive. Most importantly, to me, it seems to be very solidly engineered. It takes the high RPM's and rapid changes of direction my 10 year old son subjects it to in it's stride, (although I do my best to moderate his actions in this regard >>:-().
It is, however, no PB3! That engine can make the much heavier Seekadett move like a Flash Steam Hydroplane! :o

Hi...I have a Anton to,with waterpump..,,,Just a first class engine,,,run and work like a champ..the water pump to,,the engine is very powerfull can take very high RPM's,to
run real powerfull on 20-30psi....and silent to....all in all...great.........
-
Thanks guys.
Yes of course the MH&B recommendation pretty much says it all. I am looking at the Quartz at present, as I have a hankering some something smaller. I already have one large tug with a Cheddar V4 installed and I would really like a couple of smaller steam boats. I think it might be fun to try and squeeze a Quartz into a puffer, maybe Sealight.
Anyway, sounds like you guys are more than happy with your engines which is the best recommendation of all.

The manufacturer and authenticity of the watch is irrelevant. The purpose of the photo is to illustrate scale. :-)

SWEET. :-))
-
Silly question, Whats the difference between the Anton and the Kramer as they both look the same and have the same name. eg the cryslal
cheers
-
That's not a silly question at all. :-) Kramer is a dealer for Anton so they are the same engine. :-))

Very nice JSS :-))....is that also an Anton V71 gas pressure reducer & a V?? pilot next to it?? .....& that %% %% long gas tank.......who made this? .......Derek
-
Great............ :-))...the cristal............is just a great enginen,,,,,,is the boiler from Anton to?..........what size is it,,,,,,,,,,
Regards Bernhard

Hi derek,
Yes it is the V70 Gas shut off valve and V72 double membrane gas regulator. It is the steam plant for the Der SeeKadett from MH &B. The boiler and gas tank are MH&B. Some more pictures with new oiler fiitted. (sorry for poor quality iphone pictures but my camera broke down). I only made two runs upto now with the plant, i have not yet a good impression if the V72 works well.
regards

Boiler volume is 1,2 Liters, Usable capacity 1 Liter according to the boiler certificate, following the running instuctions i could not fill it up more then about 800cc
-
Very nice steam plant. I guess the boiler is made by MH&B?
And is that a Niggel oiler? It looks familiar :-)
-
Just did the first test run on new Crystal steam plant, what a superb piece of engineering, it runs as good as it looks and that is indeed high praise.
I appreciate it is expensive, but in my opinion this is one of the rare cases where you get what you pay for. Excellent.
