Title: DUWK wheels and drives
Post by: hoverboy on February 06, 2010, 01:12:39 pm
Hi,

I want to scratch build an amphibian. However at this point in time I cannot work out the ins and outs of the drive and steering.

Could someone please help me by telling me where I can purchase the wheels etc, and also if there are any articles on this subject.

Pete

I think the original DUKW model that the deans one was derived from was based on a lot of Tamiya parts modified for use.

If you were thinking of designing something along those lines, that would be the route I would take - unless of course you have a workshop full of engineering equipment.
There's an awful lot of model cars and trucks you could scavenge for bits.

there was a good article in MB last year the chap used ROBBIE running gear for the wheels they sell the individual units as you need 4wd or 6 in his case to get you out of the water.
