FC = Fat Chance............of surviving in the Premier League or, indeed, in any shape or form after HMRC have their say. IMHO it serves the greedy beggars right for climbing into bed with Murdoch Sky Sports and then allowing themselves to be held to ransom over players' wages. (Thinks: How can the word "wages" apply to >£10K a week?? Helluva wage packet to hand over to 'Mam' on a Friday night, isn't it?)

Doesn't look like our 'other' local lot - Notts County - are having much better luck with owners, either. The latest one has just paid a quid for the whole club; I reckon he was robbed. Can't understand how Sven G-E consistently makes so much money out of being second-best. Still, at least the club-going young ladies of the town can stop checking their drinks for Rohypnol now.....  %)

They've had four owners this season, thats more than the number of home wins. {-)

But 1 away win is enough to dump Southampton out of the cup.
The last 4-1 win dumped Southampton out of the Premier League.
Yes times are bad right now but the above facts still keep a smile on my face.
You played better yesterday than when you were a Premier Team, but still the same result.
Saints Dumped once again.

Cold night in Pompey coming up, minus 9. :-))

Yes Dicky, saints know all about administration.
We are down now for the second time, we will rise phoenix-like from the ashes.
Just the life of a Pompey fan.
The main thing to remember is that even as things are now I am so glad not to be a Saints fan.
4-1,4-1, home and away. Being in administration assures Saints are OUT of the cup.

Well we have a good example to follow haven't we.
Oh sorry WE aren't whining that "it wasn't us, it was the parent company" so please, pretty please Mr FA don't apply your rules to US, they are for others, whine, whine, whine. PLEAAAAASSSSSEEEE dont deduct any points off us.
Its happened, we will deal with it and get on with things.

Still 4-1, 4-1, no heart, we put you down out of Premier and knocked you out of the cup.
The only thing bringing a smile today.

PORTSMOUTH will be back in the High Court tomorrow after the HMRC challenged their decision to go into administration.

Pompey appointed administrators on Friday, in an attempt to avoid the High Court appearance scheduled for today, that could have seen them wound up.

However the taxman has taken exception to that action and will contest it in court tomorrow.

The club will be appearing in court 53 at the High Court with four cases being heard from 10.30am.

I don't live in Southampton.
Just a typical lazy Scummer Post Office ploy to extend their area to include good Pompey Boys.
And typical of the interpretation using Royal Mail to define areas.
Yes I DO hate the Postcode, but I am safe in the knowledge that I live in FAREHAM.
It is those that CHOOSE to live in Southampton that I really feel sorry for, but we all have to live somewhere I suppose.
Still another 2 weeks to go till back in High Court, We still live!!!

I know mate, the Postal Address.
The real sickener is that the PO Postcodes run out about 100 yards from me.
We should have bought the OTHER house!!!
I don't get too excited about the Skate/Scummer rivalry, its all much of a joke EXCEPT on match days.
Always look to see if Southampton get beat, but now they are in the lower leagues not happening so much.
Still the way things are looking we might just play you in the league.

Bob, I've had an interest in Pompey ever since one of our local lads, Craig Foster, whom I know and watched playing junior football here, had a short stint with the club under Terry Venables. He is now the football "analyst" with one of the national TV networks, but was back home last weekend playing in an annual charity match.

It is very sad to see a proud club in such dire straits.

Peter.

Daily Echo 22 April 2010

THE state of Portsmouth FC's perilous finances have been laid bare for all to see.

Administrators UHY Hacker Young have published a 70 page document, detailing what the club owes.

The headline figure is a total debt of £119m, as reported yesterday by the Daily Echo.

The club owes £17.3m in transfer fees, £9.7m to players' agents and scouts, £17.1m in unpaid tax and national insurance contributions and £38.2m in unsecured loans.

They also owe £35,000 to Saints and just under £42,000 to King Edward VI School in Southampton.

The document also reveals Fratton Park is officially valued at £7.7m - although the administrators consider it to be worth £15m while the club's playing squad is valued at a total of £30m.

All the non-playing staff at the club have agreed to defer wages in an attempt to help the club operate on a day-to-day basis, although no mention has been made of the players themselves.

The club also owes £3m to current and ex-players for so-called image rights.

The administrators predict that without any player sales or deferring of player wages, there will be a shortfall of £7m between the club entering administration and the end of the season.

Any buyers, could do a deal, do you think ?

As  Brighton & Hove Albion supporter I am happy,  bit of luck at last for us doing OK  new stand being built   at last a new home

back in 83 we were in the same position as Pompey,  going down and at the cup final.    not in admin thought .

just a word of advice for the Pompey team if you have a player named SMITH leave him at home .

I will be cheering for you guys .  looking forward to hearing the Pompey chimes.   best of luck  1 - nil will be fine

It makes me feel so good that a scummer is taking so much interest in the Better Football Club - Portsmouth.
I haven't seen any thread about Southampton FC, so all I can assume is that there is nothing to write about so need to check out a better club.
Many thanks DickyD, so glad you are publicising Pompey.
As the old saying goes there "is no such thing as bad publicity"
Shame you can't be expected to make the playoffs it would have been good to beat you 4 - 1 AGAIN.
Yes it is getting a habit.

Once again thanks for keeping Pompey at the top of the new threads.

Couldn't have been very wakened then. But, joking aside, I do feel sorry for Portsmouth. I'm old enough to have seen Jimmy Dickenson and others play at St.James Park ...and recall preferring them to The Arsenal. But, when money rules, sport goes out of the window. Sorry and all that. BY.

Chelsea have proved that you can buy success. Abramovich just kept spending, both on players and managers, until he assembled an almost unbeatable team. I may be old fashioned (or simply old) but that sort of approach does nothing for me but, I suppose that's the way the game has "progressed".

Quite right Peter. Just look at how many so called English clubs are no longer English. Chelsea, Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool. They are Russian, American, Saudi Arabian etc etc. They just happen to play the game in England!!!!

Our support should go to the few remaining "English" clubs..

Portsmouth squad, 35 players  11 of which are English.

Chelsea squad 28 players  8 of which are English

Dont worry about the Premier League DickyD you are now joining the best division in the land.
The football is good and the results arent guaranteed.  My team just lost in the play-offs (Leicester City)
and even though you always want your team to win I didnt really want them to go into the Premier L.
Pompey should well if they can keep some of their better players and with the parachute payoff they
can buy players who will do well.
See you at the Walkers stadium on the few occasions I can get back home to watch a match.
But thank god I've got leicester Tigers to follow as well when the football gets me down.

Colin,
We all have our metaphoric crosses to bear.
Mine just happens to be DickyD.
Now I bet that has got your sympathy.

We all wept for him when Portsmouth went into administration, we wept for him when Portsmouth went down, we also wept for him when they lost the FA Cup,------------OK so we had to stifle the laughter but oh how we wept.

Old relic filled with endangered species [fans]

Dicky,
I now understand why there is such a difference between Portsmouth and the other lot of Fans.
It doesn't matter where we end up I will always support Pompey.
Endangered Species not at all that must be you remembering when you went into administration, crowds dropped considerably.
Oh yes and you sold your ground to the council.
You make this sound like it is something new for Pompey, we have been there before and survived, so shall we this time.

I also see 3 of your local "Fans" have been banned from every football match.
See what happens when you actually see good football it sends you mad.
Oh yes you have seen it when Pompey beat you twice at 4-1, that answers lots of questions.
However far we fall you will be safe in the knowledge that we will still be there for you to look up to.

It's at times like this I'm glad I cannot abide football. I've never been to a football match in my life, never watched a football match on tv, and never had any interest in football at all. When I was a hgv driver, my cab was declared a football free zone...anyone who entered the cab was not allowed to mention football, or they would be ushered out...smartish.

"serious fun comes in straight lines...."

Still keeping on about the time you beat us 4-1 Bob.

Understandable seeing as how it doesn't happen very often.

In professional matches between Southampton and Portsmouth, Southampton have won 49 and Portsmouth have won 11 and they have drawn 5.

Shouldn't go on to much about fans being banned because you obviously have a short memory, one of many bans that springs to mind is 20 August 2004
POMPEY chairman Milan Mandaric told 54 Pompey football hooligans who rioted after the Southampton clash: You're banned for life.

 ok2

Sorry Dicky,
I find all this rather boring.
If there is any new news it will become more interesting.
You see I just don't care what happens to Southampton FC, they are just a complete irrelevance.
All I look for is the results and if SFC lose again it makes me smile.
If they win I don't care.
This is just a boring thread started by a "Scummer" with nothing better to do except show an interest in Pompey.
I really cant think why, if it was reversed, as it was, I wouldn't and didn't come on  here starting a completely irrelevant thread.

YAWN, YAWN, must go look at more interesting posts now before this one really puts me to sleep.
