Title: Am I Still A Beginner?
Post by: asimmd on March 14, 2010, 02:19:25 pm
Hi All

I am 62 years old and retired and I haven't built an R/C boat
kit for some 20 years.

Question is,am I still classed as a beginner and as such need to restart my hobby
with a so called beginners kit?
When I was building regularly,I could not only built kits but I even scratch built as well.

I would be grateful if someone could recommend a kit for me as my first re-introduction to the
hobby, always depending on the answer to the original question.

Thanks

Alan

If you have done it, then you can do it.
Mistakes happen.
If one happens to you, tear it out and do it again.
Repeat until finished.
Simple!                              :-))

Have a look at the Model Slipway site. Their models are excellent with a very personal service.

They do kits from beginners upwards and you can make up you own mind what you think you can do.

Their website is worth studying for all the information on it.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

Modelslipway Loyal Class Tender was one I was looking at.

Aziz - Assurance Tug and Envoy were the others.

I am told the Loyal is easy to build and the others are difficult.

I suppose it's just a matter of getting my eye in again.

Modelling is a bit like riding a bike - once learnt - never forgotten.   One just gets a  bit rusty  :o :o
