Title: Identity of boat and availability of plans
Post by: kiwimodeller on May 09, 2010, 10:49:02 am
Hi, can anybody tell me the name of the steam launch on the cover of the book "Model Marine Steam" by Stan Bray and where I might find plans? Thanks, Ian.

Hi,
I think that you are looking for the plans of the steam launch WIDEAWAKE that you can find here:

A very similar model launch LA MUETTE was designed by a french steam enthousiast. I think I have the plans of it
Both are of clinker construction.

Ian
I also wondered if it was Wideawake. Just in case it is I am sending you copies of the articles that appeared years ago in Model Boats. Hope I've got your address correct.
Malcolm

Thanks for that both. It does look like the Wide A Wake on eBay but anything similar will do. I have a Kingston River Queen hull but as there are already a couple of River Queens and african Queens around here I was looking for something a bit different and when I saw the one on the cover of the book I thought that was the nicest looking of any of the open steam launches. I will fit it with a Gage single from Graham Ind and a WADA reversable prop that I have been saving for years just for a project like this. Malcolm I have sent you an email just to make sure you have my email address. Cheers, Ian.
