Title: RN/RNZN cruiser Black Prince or Bellona plans?
Post by: Martin (Admin) on May 17, 2010, 02:06:22 pm
Via email to Mayhem...

G'day Martin,

Quick query - I wish to build 10ft long RN/RNZN cruiser Black Prince or Bellona. (Improved Didio class) No luck on the net so far, people like Jacobin do only small plans. Fleetscale no go. National Maritime museum site difficult
to research. Any suggested areas I should try UK?

Thanks

Dick Hopper.

Bellona was built at Fairfields on the Clyde.
It would be worth while contacting the University of Strathclyde Archives  http://www.strath.ac.uk/archives/ (http://www.strath.ac.uk/archives/)  or National Archives of Scotland                  http://www.nas.gov.uk/ (http://www.nas.gov.uk/)
They have tons of shipyard drawings of clyde built ships :-))

NMM have over 100000 naval ship plans - they like contact via e-mail but they are NOT cheap
and I believe most of their plans of 1:96 scale so you will have to be prepared to re-scale them

A&A Plans produced a single sheet 1/192 plan & profile of HMS Black Prince (1943) back in the 1970s. These plans are now owned and sold by Taubman Plans:
