Title: aspirated pump ballast system

I remember coming across  a photo of a wtc  sporting a  aspirated pump ballast system as described in Norbert Bruggen's book wherein the ballast tank utilizes a valve at the bottom to let the water in. The air escaped through a vent located at the top. To surface a pump empties the ballast tank.  For the tank to empty the vent tube needs to be above the water. 

As far as I can remember the sub was made in the UK. I was wondering if any of you gents have any info about this particular submarine. I'm very much interested in seeing photos of the bottom valve and how it was built and operated.  Thank you.

Vented ballast tank? Subtech Albacore and Marlin use this system. Vater comes in out out via the pump. They can be fitted with a back up propellant gas system just in case you can get the vent tube above the water to surface.
