Hello,
Without revealing too much, I am looking for Two sets of black frogman equipment, the type that would have been used by British WWII frogman. It would be for a 1/6 scale 12" GI JOE figure. I do not need the doll itself, just the equipment. I have been searching ebay with very little complete sets available at a affordable price. This equipment will be getting wet with its use.
Any help with links or anyone who has some sets to sell, please let me know.
Thanks In Advance for your help again.

You're talking about Davis apparatus- and you're going to have to make it yourself I'm afraid.

Hello
Thanks for your fast reply but to be honest, I never heard of the diving equipment as " Davis apparatus". I will try a google search but could you show me a picture of it as well so that I know for sure if thats what I need.
Thanks again

Hello again
I have just googled Davis apparatus. No thats not what I was thinking about. That was a submarine escape system. What I need was used in WWII by the British Frogman for special underwater war fare. The equipment used had flippers, black full size wet suit poorly fitted, not body tight, round face mask and a air breather etc.
Hopefully this gives you a better idea of what I am after/
Thanks Again,
George

Yeah, they used modified versions of the escape equipment for their divers, scuba diving was still in it's infancy at that point. The Italians advanced the art more than anyone else here.
This the sort of thing you're after?-

Hi Subculture
Well your First picture of the Two men in Early Frogman gear is what I am looking for. I could also really use a larger picture of the same style gear if possible? That gear is what I am after, any idea of a supplier?
Also your last picture , parts would look good in a pan in the morning with eggs.
Your on to what I am designing but please keep the item to yourself for now, if I can get this gear then I will go forward with my build and a post here.
Thanks Again Subculture and All else for your help.

Okay. Not sure what all the secrecy is about- this has been done before. Alf Blake and the late Steve Webb have both travelled down this path.
There is nothing commercially available for the subject you're after. GI Joe/Action man suits are much too modern, and just plain wrong. Personally I would look at fashioning the suits from sculpting putty, when suitably painted, they will look like rubber suits, but won't suffer from perishing and trapped air won't compress as you dive (assuming these suits are going to be taking a dip).
I have some pictures of these suits, not exhaustive, but should get you on the right road. I'll post them up later, as I haven't got my camera/scanner to hand at the moment.

When i made the figures for my chariot i used large black heat shrink and sculpted/shaped when warm..

Hello again
Any large pictures of the WWII chariot frogman would be appreciated for detailing purposes. I might go with the large heat shrink tubing idea as a wet suit, it has a nice dull black finish when done, looks realistic I just have to see closer pictures of the rest of the equipment so that I can try to match it.
Anyone with pictures of their own chariot and figures, could I trouble you for up close pictures of the chariot and frogman, please.
Thanks Again for your help.
