Hi all,
Im seriously thinking of getting rid of my futaba skysport 4 ch. and going digital. I was somewhat skeptical of the spektrum kit at first but it seems to have hit the ground running.
Does anyone know the cheapest supplier of the dx7 or dx8 please?

Hi Dan
I've used Spektrum for a couple of years now, top notch stuff. The DX8 is not available yet but should appear next month. I get my stuff from Inwood Models in Huntingdon who will split a set if you don't want all the kit and caboodle.

Thanks Phil.
I'l have a good look at the site. I'd only be after the tx, rx battey and charger.
Do you have any idea on pricing for the dx8 yet?

Hi Dan
No idea of the DX8 price, I would like to know as well :-))

There is a DX 10 coming out that looks like it will be better suited to boats than the DX6/8 as it is a tray type TX like the Robbe F-14 and can be expanded with sliders and switches. You may want to hold out for that.

I would certainly go for a DX10 if I could afford it.

You can't buy one for love nor money at the moment. It looks like it will be some time before they are available, not this year at any rate.
I want one too :-))

I want one also but its gona be a fortune..
Im expecting the spektrum dx8 to be about £350 i reckon, a lot of money.
I just wish someone would make an f14 navy into 2.4ghz. Im looking into getting mine modified.
If anyone hears anything about price for the Dx8, please leave a comment here.

Subculture described how to convert the FC-16 to 2.4, http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=24085.0 I imagine the F-14 will be pretty much the same.
they are claiming Last quarter 2010 for when the DX10 goes on sale, but yes, its likely to be pricey.

You could convert yourF14 with the Frsky module http://www.giantcod.co.uk/frsky-24ghz-conversion-hack-module-channel-receiver-p-405206.html (http://www.giantcod.co.uk/frsky-24ghz-conversion-hack-module-channel-receiver-p-405206.html)
I saw Subcultures conversion, it looked pretty good and it also retains 40MHz output.

Cheers fellas, very useful stuff.
Ive been in contact with Pete (pmk i think) regarding the above.
I'll pass on the link as he seems to be prepared to have a bash at converting it. I'm only a QAQC engineer and not an electrical engineer so im not the man for the job.

Decided im going to hold out for the DX8.
Interestingly, ive read it will be telemetry capable with add on modules for temp and possible gps. With a little programming from some genious, would it be possible to make a dynamic positioning system of a sort. If say your model is in the middle of the pond and theres a strong wind. You say press the 'DP hold' button and by magic, the model holds its position.
Obviously this would be more suited to aziz type models and would make for a very interesting feature.
I cant help but ponder and ponder about models in say 15 years, the technology which could become available for them.
If anyone has any ideas, please leave a comment.
