Title: Looking for Type 42 destroyer plans
Post by: Edward Pinniger on August 05, 2010, 07:18:09 pm
I'm looking for a set of plans for a Royal Navy Type 42 destroyer - preferably not too pricey, as the model they're needed for is quite small (1/144 scale, a bit under 3') and based on an old semi-scale PBM wood hull.
Ideally I need plans for a "Batch 1" ship (Birmingham, Cardiff, Coventry, Glasgow, Newcastle or Sheffield) though a "Batch 2" (Exeter, Liverpool, Manchester or Nottingham) would also be OK.

Jecobin (http://jecobinplans.com/estore/index.php?cPath=21_27) have a good range of Type 42 plans, and they're quite reasonably priced (about £10 for 1/192 scale), are there any other suppliers of plans for this class?

Hmmm. I think someone called maybeth(?) used to do a Type 42 plan. Not certain how good they were or even if they are still available.

TBH, I'd just save time and get the Jecobin version. I have this in 1\96 for HMS Liverpool hull I have and I'll probably have to consider selling now since Sirmar went pop. I just dont have the skill to make the parts.

Sirmar went "pop"?
Well, there was fair warning for about ten months, if people didn't want it, they would lose it, so go figure????

No one can manage on 15 quid a week without other income, so FORGET IT boys, Sirmar as it was is gone!!!
